Contractions.... update (see first post)

What do 'real' contractions feel like in the very early stages of labor?? I woke up this morning with menstrual-like cramps, and have been having contractions all morning long...they feel a bit different than BH contractions, (they hurt) but I wouldn't say they are bad at all. The pain occasionally moves into my back or down my legs. Also, last night, (warning, TMI!) I had these awful SHARP pains in my cervix...ouch!!!!! I felt like the baby was trying to push her way out!

I think I am going to take a shower and get ready 'just in case' things are actually happening!!! Cross your fingers for me!!!

***UPDATE***

Well, i AM in labor!!! Contractions are 2 minutes apart and HURTING! The hospital sent me home because I am only a measly ONE centimeter dilated (after having contractions since 7:30am!!). I have to go back if my water breaks and when the contractions get harder. Lovely...I really don't want them to get worse than this. Anyway, thank you all for your kind wishes...doc says I will have this baby tonight or tomorrow!!! WAHOOO!

Edited to say that I predicted April 17th for you, so either it's going to be 6 days of labor or I'm WAYYY off!! Let's hope it's the latter!!! Maybe she'll be 8 lbs. 1 oz??

Melissa they start to feel like cramps they get progressivly stronger then go away. In the beginning they dont feel too bad at all. If they are coming in intervals (with me it was every 8 minutes or so) they YOU ARE IN LABOR!!!!!!!!!

I hope this is it for you and you have a little baby in the next 24 hours!!!!

Well, it's 10:45 (almost three hours later) and I'm still contracting! But it's not getting any worse...yet. We'll see.... I really hope this is it!

Are they coming in any timeframe like every 10 minutes? I went into labor at 6:49PM and the contractions didnt get any worse till like 3AM the next day.

I just started to pay attention to them and time them....I will let you know soon as to how far apart they are!!!

They are definitely not regular...sometimes they are 10 minutes apart and sometimes they are 3 or 4 minutes apart...guess I will keep timing them to see if they form a pattern.

Well, they ARE starting to hurt now...maybe I should call my hubby? Hee hee...he has no idea. But he is over an hour away right now, so I guess I really should call him! He is going to flip out...he has been sooooo excited lately.

WOW!! This is soo awesome! I'm so excited for you! There's no turning back now, it looks like she's ready to make her debut anytime now! April 11th or April 12th sounds like a nice birthday! Good luck and let us know how it goes! :)

Melissa--Any other symptoms? I'm curious as to what signs might tell labor is impending. I'm so anxious for my contractions to begin! Good luck and may you have a quick and easy labor!
