GREAT poll. That being said....we, of course, have our issues, but I'd say things are great. I think I would worry if we had NO issues. Then maybe we'd be ignoring something, but yes, things are going very well. I think we're very much on the same plane in life and where we are going in life together. We may not agree on everything between point A and point B, but we definitely agree on what point A and B are. Did that make sense? I think it would be boring if we wanted the exact same things and always got along. A little bit of struggle is good for the soul

We are doing great!!! We are loving married life, not that much changed, owning our own home and getting ready to be a 'family'.

We're not married yet, but we are doing great. Having said that, I can't deny that after doing 2+ years of long distance (and I mean serious long distance - where sometimes we cant even talk to each other, never mind see each other!), it might be a big (read: very difficult) adjustment when we finally move in together. I know marriage isn't easy and that it takes work. I hope that once July 8th comes, things will stay as great as they are now.

Re: Controversial Poll
We're between going great and having some problems. I think lately we're more on the 'going great' side but there are always problems to work out. Things aren't 100% perfect, and they never will be, but we're both really happy. I think most of what makes us unhappy has to do with my in laws.

Great poll!!
Right now, I'd say things are going great, but as everyone else has said, there's always a problem that pops up now and then. Overall, we are very happy

Re: Controversial Poll
We have our ups and downs. We have been together for almost 8 years. Married for almost 4 of those years.
Stress seems to be what kills us though. Being a teacher, one would think that I have it a little bit easier, but I also tutor and have to take care of my mother. So I am being pulled in all directions.
Also, sex is a big discussion these days. To be honest, I just have been too tired and over worked. He's like a rabbit.
I know that we need to take more time for eachother and with the summer coming, I know that that will happen.
I also beleive that marriages just shouldn't end. My parents were married for 28 years before my father died and my DH's parents are married 39 years!

Re: Controversial Poll
So far so good. We have had minor bumps during the adjustment period in the beginning. My recent layoff has been stressful, but just frustrating because we feel helpless not because we are angry with each other.
We also come from families where the parents were married over 35 years!! If I ever had the idea in my head that I would quit this marriage when some trouble came, I never would have gotten married in the first place.

Re: Controversial Poll
At first, there was a big adjustment for him to realize that our home was not the place for his cousins to come and hang out whenever they wanted.
Now that we've been married almost 3 years and we're expanding our family, I see that there is a maturing phase that has taken affect. Things couldn't be better now!!

We argue like all couples do, but we are having a great time together. I am reallly surprised how well we are getting along with one another. We are still discovering things about each other.

I don't know, my parents were married 35 years before they divorced. People change, and I am not 100% sure I will be married to DH when I am 75...But I will try! Definitely ups and downs but getting better at working through it. DH hates his job which has been affecting us both and our relationship. He also changes his mind frequently about whether or not he ever wants to have children, and what career he wants to pursue.

Re: Controversial Poll
I am really lucky. Our relationship is better than I imagined.
BUT I also think that because we did not meet until I was 31 and DH was 32, we have the adavantages of a) being out in the dating world for a long time and knowing what was out there (and frankly, it mostly sucked) and b) a little more maturity because of our age. We don't argue over small things and are very good at compromising. It's never about one person giving in and 'winning'.

I'm not going to lie, we have our ups and downs but what couple doesn't, you know. We have been married for more than five years and we are actually renewing our vows next year. it takes work, but if you are willing than that's all that matters.
Amen sista! We've had more than ups and downs, one of us at one point or another has moved out, left, consulted an attorney, etc. Alot of our issues had to do with family interference and the fact that I never felt like he was on my side. Is he perfect? No and he never will be. But I'm not either. As long as we can come to a compromise and live together without the volitile situation it used to be, I'm very happy. Things have massively improved since we distanced ourselves from his family and stopped giving them the power to tear us apart. Our daughter has also made us rethink our priorities and not stress over the little sheet anymore either.

Re: Controversial Poll
We are doing really good. DH and I have been together for 5 yrs. and on May 28 we will have been married a year. We have our moments, but always seem to work it out. The most difficult thing over the past year has been that we don't see much of each other. He works during the day and goes to school 3 nights a week and I work at night. It is interesting because it makes me sad, but at the same time we really enjoy the time that we do get to spend together.
Both sets of our parents are still together. Sometimes I am amazed that they are. My parents have lost both my brothers and DH's dad suffers from clinical depression and once tried to commet suicide. Somehow, through all of this our parents have managed to stick togther. I would not have married DH if I was not sure that we had the same commitment to each other.

I know I just am oversensitive with this issue still and sometimes second guess myself when comments are made like that. It makes me sad- like I quit before even trying to make it work when I know in fact in couldnt because of him...I wanted to be married and took the vows seriously- it was him. anyway im done venting...:)

ditto. it isn't easy when you have two personalities that live differently and experienced different things, but giving up is not a choice. we're best friends and we argue. but we're also like siblings. i swear, he is like my older brother sometimes.

It's all good sweetie I know in my heart that someone amazing will come along for you. You are incredibly beautiful both inside and out. You are NO QUITTER. But you can't work on something if you're not given anything to work with. Why should you have to settle?? You are worth so much more than that!
