Check this out. My girlfriend in lieu of a favor is donating to a local charity for her wedding. Pretty normal these days. My other friend thinks this is strange and wants to give her a card for a gift that says, 'In lieu of your gift, I gave to a local charity in your name.'
How would you feel about this?
Thought this was odd and would like to hear some feedback. I guess I never thought of it that way before.

I have been to wedding where the couple did this. I think its nice. not everyone wants a trinket, the idea is very thoughtful. We did do a CD, but I think that the other idea is good too. and I think that doing what she wants to do would be rude, but three cheers to the bride that posted she would be glad if someone made an extra donation! Thats really cool.
