Did anyone see the cookie buffet display in Martha Stewart Weddings? Anyone planning on doing that? I like the idea more than the candy bar, since I LOVE cookies...
How many cookies would you expect each guest to take? What would be the best container, a little basket or a bag-type container?
Any thoughts?

I too LOVE the idea. My only concern would be my greedy family!! I'd opt for the prepackaged

That's exactly what I'm worried about! I can just imagine my grandmother and all her friends rushing over to the table and stuffing bags full of cookies!

Worse yet I can see my family stuffing their pockets and purses!!

Re: Cookie buffet
That is cool! I would say not to go for a basket since the cookies would go stale (if people can hold off eating them that is!) and I would go for a small sealable container so that there would be enough for everyone to get some!

Re: Cookie buffet
I love this idea. I am thinking of doing it. I went to a baby shower over the weekend and the host had several jars full of cookies with clear plastic bags. They were the favors. I took about 6 cookies (I love cookies as well)

Re: Cookie buffet
Hmm...I was thinking about that each person would take around 3 cookies. I guess it depends on the size of the bag and the size of the cookies.
I wonder if the reception hall would have a problem with this. I mean, a candy bar is one thing, but a cookie bar is something else, especially since we opted not to have Vienese Hour.

Re: Cookie buffet
My FH and I went to a wedding last year where at the end of the night as people were walking out, they had a table set up with all kinds of goodies. Krispy Kreme donuts, cookies, pretzels, chocolate covered fruit. They just had little plastic bags so people couldn't be too greedy. It was a nice little snack back at the hotel that night.

Re: Cookie buffet
I guess I could prepackage the cookies in a bag like this (from www.bellaterra.net):
But somehow, this doesn't seem as cute...but it takes care of the greedy relatives problem.

Re: Cookie buffet
i am thinking of doing this - where my FH is from everyone brings cookies and that is the favor- this is a nice way of doing that
i was thinking 3 or 4 cookies per person - matters on size of cookies and the bags
