Re: Coram Area

i lived in an apartment there. I would live there again, but I am not fond of the Longwood School District, I don't know if that comes into play for you, but when selling it, it definitely will. The district is not really a good one. The area is ok, in my opinion. Not a great area, could be cleaned up a bit, but not a terrible area. When JT and I go to buy a condo, I would look in that area. but not a place I would raise my family. Hope that helped. JMO.

I would be careful with Coram there is a REALLY bad area that is part of it called Gordon Heights. I know parts of it are still nice but it would not be my top choice. As Rachel said, not a big fan of Longwood School District.

I looked there and some parts are just scary! The condo's and co-ops are nice though because they are kinda isolated

Exactly. I would definitely buy one of the condos on 112, or maybe one of the ones in North Isle, but a house, I wouldn't buy there. Where is the area you are looking?

Re: Coram Area

Coram is just like other towns, it has it bad areas and it has its good areas. The bad area that I know of is south of Route 25 and East of Coram-MtSinai Rd down into Gordon Heights.

We actually just moved out of Coram (we had a townhome in the Longwood school district) we planned on staying there while our kids were small and possibly move even before they hit grade school.

As far as the schools, longwood is a HUGE district (that goes all the way into Mastic area). The elementary schools are much better than the junior and high schools and our plan was to move before our kids hit grade school because we did just not want our kids going there -- however a house in another town/school district came along so we moved sooner rather than later.

I also knew someone who lived in North Isle and did not have good things to say about it (she lived alone). Bretton woods is pretty nice - I know a few people who live in there, although they are retired folks who enjoy the active community.

Feel free to FM if you have any more questions.

GOOD LUCK

Re: Coram Area

thanks so much for all of your responses. It really helped. We are looking to purchase a condo in or around the coram/holtsville area. We plan on staying in that area for a couple of years.
