Cost of Cake

I just started looking at cakes...the prices seem a bit higher than I thought they would be!

Can anyone share how much they paid for their cake? Normal/Average prices, etc?

It does come with a cake, but I have heard not so great things about the place they use, so I don't want to take chances!

Yup - I am going with the hall's cake because it's included and I needed the $$$ for a million other things.

I would ask for a tasting of their cake--maybe they have a showcase or can tell u where they get their cakes. I would taste it for yourself before going out and spending the money. Also by the time the cake comes--especially if you are having other desserts--people are full and may not necessarily even have cake. Just a thought to save a little money.

I heard bad things as far as them promising it would look a certain way and then looking nothing like it and people being really disappointed with the appearance of the cake...

Im not too sure but i think the cheapest Ive found is $3 per person.

my hall is charging $6 per person for the cake, up from $5 per person when i first looked at them. It seems high to me!

Is it Black forest? Because my hall uses them too and my hall said if I like I can go down there and talk to the guy and explain exactly what I want and he will make it for me.

From my understanding Black Forest does not make good Fondant cakes but there buttercream cakes come out all right and that is what I want Buttercream What type of cake did you want to get?F

i upgraded the cake that came with the hall's package - the total cost of the cake was $400, this was for 175 people.

Me, too! If you are serving the cake late at night not everyone will eat it. Most people will be stuffed from the CH and reception. That's what all of my married friends told me.
