Not to be a downer but this is just one experience i have heard....my fsil went to costa rica on vacation and she said it was pretty but there were many cases of robbery at and around her hotel (some thieves followed a few tourists from the airport and robbed them right before they checked in) and she generally just didnt feel safe there
Please dont let this be your deciding factor, i dont know of anyone else whos been there except her and her experience wasnt that great so i just wanted to share.... HTH

We went to Costa Rica last year on vacation and it was amazing. A wonderful country with kind people and beautiful sights. Tourism is huge there so, as long as you use your common sense, I wouldn't worry at all about safety there. FM me with any questions!

I spent 8 days in Costa Rica about 6 months ago and had an amazing experience. We took surfing lessons, did zip lining, went on nature hikes and saw monkeys everywhere... we took ATVs all over the island and saw in a waterfall.
We had an amazing time.
No safety issues at all... We were at a huge resort...
We took a small plane to Tambor and it was hard to get money.

I went to Costa Rica with a girl friend of mine in October 2007. We were just 2 girls and felt very safe. We went to La Fortuna. It was very beautiful.

I didn't go to Costa Rica for my honeymoon but I have been there for vacation. I'd recommend the Four Seasons and Tabacon resorts.
