We have reserved a room for my cousins and aunt to share at the inn. My questions is they do not have a 'significant' other.. do we send then an invatation just to them or do we add a guest. They live out in Queens that's why we got them a room..But if they bring a guest the guest will have no place to stay.

Re: Cousins w/ out a date??
I'm of the opinion single guests get invited single. I feel if you give people the option of guest they will just find some random person, no thanks!

Re: Cousins w/ out a date??
I have a very personal experience to share about this subject and I really hope it helps.
Three years ago, my cousin had a quick wedding and I was 23 and dating my now-FH for six months.
No one really knew about our status at that point, but I wasn't invited to her wedding with a date and it still bothers me. Not so much because I had a boyfriend, but because I was an adult and felt that I should have been invited as an adult with a guest. She recently asked me if she could bring her 5 month old to my wedding so she could breastfeed during my reception and I turned her down. Now she isn't coming to my wedding and I am slighted by the fact that I wasn't invited to her wedding with a guest, but she wanted to bring her baby.
My other cousins who are over 18 were all invited with a guest. My aunt (other side of the family) made it a point to contact me and tell me how nice it was that her sons were all invited with guests. They range from 19-22. Because of them being invited with a guest, she found out her son is dating a gal in college. I had no idea...actually no one had any idea. But he is thankful that we thought enough to do it. It's from my personal experience that I felt I had to do that.
He and the rest of my boy cousins decided to all come together without dates but I am still glad I gave them that option.
All totally my personal opinion and experience, but if they are in their 30's, I'd let them have that opportunity. If they want to bring a guest, they'll just have to find a place to put them in another hotel or something. But if I were you, I'd invite them with guest.

Give them the option...especially b/c they're in their 30's...don't worry about their room situation - it's not your hassle. Let them worry about it!

Re: Cousins w/ out a date??
I think you should give them the option. I think its very difficult to determine what a 'significant other' is. I know Lisa gave her example, and I have one too- I was a BM in my friends wedding- she invited me with guest. At the time I had been dating FH for about 2 months, so would you have considered that a significant other? I invited my adult cousins with a guest. Its all a personal decision, but for me it was the appropriate one.

Re: Cousins w/ out a date??
All of my cousins that were 18 and over were invited with a guest. My one cousin was so thrilled that he was able to bring someone, he wound up going solo but I wanted to give him the option.

Re: Cousins w/ out a date??
The only person we invited with a guest who didn't have a significant other was my co-worker who didn't know anyone else at the reception. None of our cousins, who were all single, were invited with guests. I didn't want random strangers at our wedding just so people could have a date. We halso had a large guest list, and we didn't want to add to it or have to cut people out just so everybody over 18 could bring a guest. If your cousins all know each other and other guests at the wedding, I don't think it's necessary to invite them with guests.
