I don't know the details, but I saw this listing on Craigslist and thought someone might be able to take advantage. I guess someone called off their wedding and the mother is offering it up for $10,000 for 150 guests. Here's the link craigs list bargain wedding
I emailed the lady for more info on this post and here is what she said....
I have contracted with the Huntington Town House in Huntington, New York for use of the chapel, a cocktail hour and reception for 150 people which unfortunately had to be cancelled. I am looking for a couple who wish to book the Huntington Town House on a date of their choosing at a price that reflects great sacrifice to me.
Their website is www.newhuntingtontownhouse.com. You will be able to choose a chapel, if you wish, an array hot and cold of hors d'ouerves, fruit displays, specialty stations, etc. Premium, top label liquor is included and a choice of entrees with fabulous desserts, etc at the reception.
The logistics involve making an appointment for us to meet at the Huntington Town House, discussing the details that you desire at your wedding and upon your booking of a date with them, you commit to pay $10,000 for 150 people. When you have paid for your affair, I will then be reimbursed that amount.
personally, I think everythng about the HTH is fishy....the few weddings I've gone to there were pretty substandard. They are probably having problems booking people.
JMO I wasn't impressed with them when I visited them, they tried to get us to book right then and there for a really cheap price, and said if we didn't decide right then and there that they would raise the price a lot!
It seems fishy that it would be a date of your choosing, since usually the deposit is to save the date at the hall...
I thought they meant a day at (huntington townhouses) choosing? I haven't heard anything really bad about this place. I remember reading a review of a bride on here who had a nice wedding. Just be nice because there are probably some Huntington Townhouse LIW members.
Honestly my dealings withe HTH has been nothing but pleasant. Our Banquet manager Ellen is a sweetheart and has not pushed anything on us. They did not tell us to sign on the spot when we first went to them. And we just went to a Wedding there last Saturday and it was beautiful. I don think they are having problems booking wedding or any other events because whenever we go to make payments or talk to Ellen there is always a wedding or event taking place.
HTH is a great place if you looking to save $$$... many couples like LP and Julz were married here and loved it.
what they are doing is moving there date to a different day, and you will take over the day. they lose less money cause they moved the event but you save cause he is still takeing a hit for hit.
if you are intrested in this, i would want to see paid receipts, contracts, everything. depending on how the deal is worked, somebody could be making out with some extra money. 10000 divided by 150 makes it $66 per person. this $66 includes tax cause its already paid for in full.... also, you have to see what it includes. depending on what they did, HTH likes to offer 35 pp on certain nights, (huge difference from 66pp) intresting but make sure your not being taken advantage of
I was actually in a wedding at HTH and it was nice. The place was very pretty. The only problem was the bridal suite - they didn't have anything set up there for the BP when we arrived, and there was no AC (holy hot!!!!!) HTH brides - definitely confirm that there will food set up for you and your BP.
