Creative place card idea

I did a search and saw that some brides have done 'message in a bottle' invites and although my cocktail hour is on the beach, I did not really want a full beach theme. BUT i have been struggling to come up with a cretive place card idea and was thinking....

What do you think of small glass bottles with cork tops- with the guests name printed on a clear label on the bottle and then their table number on a piece of paper inside the bottle??

Is this a good idea or am I just really tired and obsessive??!?!?!?

i am doing this; however, i am putting a scroll inside that says we have made a donation to a charity as a favor. we are hoping to put name and table number on a sand dollar that will be tied to the top of the bottle somehow. i found a good website for cheap bottles at
