When I got my CC statement today I was shocked to see that someone had used one of those low interest check offers and gotten 2800 out of my CC. Thankfully I am not liable for this, but it's scary all the same and I have ordered a full credit report.
I called every single one of my CC companies and requested to no longer be sent those check offers (you know how they already look like YOUR checks with your name and number on them)? Well, they are VERY easy for someone to use!
Be very careful with those!!!
Someone must have taken them out of my mailbox as I shread all CC offers!

This happened to me and another thing you can do at no charge is request that the credit reporting agencies put you on alert so noone can check your credit without authorization from you. Since noone will issue credit without checking it it is a great mechanism to protect from identity theft. Law mandates that there is no fee for them to do this.

Put passwords on your accounts. I just had a fraud case cleared up. I have to give passwords when I make purchases. No password...the sale wont go through

I had a person one time buying concert tickets on my credit card in sam goody! eventually they closed down after that there was alot of fraud going around in there. i called my credit card company and told them i did not buy any concert tickets and they did not let me pay for that, they found the person who did! thats good that you saw that!

The thing is, I shread all my papers too! They must have gotten the offer out of my mailbox before I got to it myself!!!!
I caught it RIGHT away because I go over ALL the bills with a fine tooth comb!

Did you hear in the beginning of the month of november there was a credit card fraud and identity theft in the bayshore mall he was the supervisor in friendly's. he was charged on 10 accounts of identity theft and fraud. what more scary is I use to work with this person in the college ....scary .

That's insane.
I joined a credit protection deal
they notify me of every inquiry into my credit
I'll be doing this for a few months until I'm sure the cost is clear.

This happened to my dad! Someone stole the checks out of his mailbox, and in total wrote like $5000 worth of checks out! He requested that they dont send checks anymore, and still to this day he recieves checks in the mail!

yikes! Fh has gotten several fradulent purchses on his amazon card..lot of problems with that and he ONLY uses it on amazon..alos my mom had a problem with BJ's where they leaked all fo their customers' crdit card data. Fortunately the card companies are on you side

This just happened to my friend with her bank card! they bought a cell phone, put gas and spent $1500 in walmart! it was $1800 total from her bank account, so even this cards they are taking, be careful!
