Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
I just wanted to pass along some news. I went to a wedding here on Friday night. When the bridal party went back to the bridal suite to get their things at the end of the night, someone had stolen money out of their pocketbooks! It was awful. The groom's father is a retired cop and knows detectives in the area, they told him this was the fifth time this month this happened at Crest Hollow. So, I just wanted to let you know in case your in a wedding there soon - bring your pocketbooks to the reception!

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
technically that can happen anywhere - either by the staff, or other wedding guests - that's so sad though
I know someone who had their wedding envelopes stolen at the reception - they found the empty envelopes in the bathroom, with the cash gone.Who needs to deal with that on what should be the happiest day in the world?

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
Thanks for the advice. It is scary, but it's the world we live in.I think this is advice that you should take wherever you are getting married. I'm sure that this isn't isolated to the CHCC (though five incidents seems a little excessive??). During a wedding, there are so many people, so much activity...and in many cases the bridal suite is not locked.
Find out if your bridal suite has a safe and use it! If is doesn't, tell the facility that you need secure storage...it's really something they should provide. I wouldn't leave anything of value lying around...that includes purse, gift envelopes, jewelery.
Our best man will take envelopes and lock them in the safe periodically during our wedding. He said he'll also check in to the suite every now and then to make sure nothing is lying around.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
My goodness. I read about this on The Knot, and thought it was a hoax because it seemed like the poster was trying to hawk wedding insurance. This is obviously an inside job, and my only hope is that the Crest Hollow does what they can to get to the bottom of this, and fire the people immediately.
Grandma will be holding our envelopes at our wedding, and I will purchase pocketbooks for my bridal party, and make sure they take them!
Any other Crest Hollow brides thinking about calling them to see what's being done? I don't know if I should.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
I have heard this before as well. Not this crest hollow incident but just in general it can happen anywhere.Sadly we don't live in a world where you can leave personal belongings in a closed off room with out fear of them being stolen.
Our place actually had notices posted in the bridal suite saying that you should NOT leave personal belongings in the bridal suite.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
I'm getting married there in May. It's horrible that something so low can happen like this. People can be so horrible. Just like some others said, it can happen anywhere. I will definately make sure no one leaves anything of value behind.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
OMG! That is terrible. I just went to a wedding there a few months ago (my uncle got married). We all had to be there super early so we left our thing in the bridal suite all night. It never crossed my mind that something like that would happen. How terrible for the couple.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
a friend of mine was over last night so i told him about this. he is a maitre'd there and he heard about it. it hasn't happened to any of the weddings he did. he told me that the only ones who have the code for the room are the maitre'd and the bride and groom, and that it is usually someone that was at the wedding because the bride and groom give out the code to someone, who gives it to someone else, etc. he knows it has happened before, but i'm sure it happens all over. he said they advise people not to leave cash there. lesson of the day-be careful!

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
as a general rule, i think it is wise not to leave ANYTHING of value in the bridal suite on the day of the wedding. take your purse to the reception and tell your bridal party the same thing.it is also a good idea to put a trusted relative in charge of watching your gifts - especially someone who won't be up dancing the entire night - so that they can watch the stuff like a hawk.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
This can happen anywhere but I have friends who have worked at CHCC and a lot of people (who aren't supposed to know)-know the codes to the suites just be careful with what you leave unattended.

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
I think Crest Hollow is more susceptible to this because of the size of the place, and the number of people running around the place on any given night. We just have to be careful, don't leave valuables in the bridal room, and don't take valuables to the hall (this is for ANY hall, not just Crest Hollow) before the wedding day. The only things you really need to drop off before your wedding day are favors, placecards, and any other decorative items. Ceremony things and the like should always be kept close to heart, and it might be wise to designate a member of your bridal party (one with a strong personalilty to insist upon it!) to collect valuable wine glasses, etc. immediately after the service is over, no matter what the bridal attendant or any other employee wants to do with it.Don't worry ladies...our weddings will be beautiful Crest Hollow has an outstanding reputation for a reason!

Re: Crest Hollow Country Club - scary
I am very sorry for your loss of your valuables, but I just wanted to make other CHCC brides feel more comfortable. As others have said, it can happen anywhere. Plus, I was married at CHCC, and had to send my bridal attendant to my bridal room to get something at some point, and nothing was ever taken. And, at the end of the affair, she had everything carefully wrapped and ready for my parents to take home with them, and nothing was missing. Also, I did drop off my engraved champagne toast glasses (that we got as an engagement gift), my cake topper (a beautiful Lenox statue), my cake plate and silver fork, etc. beforehand, and I had no problems with getting it back!!! So, there will be good and bad experiences everywhere. Good luck to you all.Welcome New Vendors
