Did anyone put crown mouldings up in their home. I really want to put them in the bedrooms to start. Did you use wood or plastic? Who did you use? Did you install it yourself? Thanks!

We have crown moulding EVERYWHERE!!!
All of it is wood and either stained or painted.
MY DH does it himself. He is a contractor.

Re: Crown Mouldings ?
We did it in our bedroom. It is wood but painted. You have to be good at mytar (sp?) cuts. My father did it. He is amazing at that, but hates doing it!

Re: Crown Mouldings ?
Funny you should ask, I just had someone here today to put it in our dining room. I am going tomorrow to pick out the type of crown molding. We plan on using wood and painting it. It is something that looks easy enough to do, but I heard it can be a PITA. You need to have the right tools and have very precise cuts.

We are thinking of doing it when our house is done. My DHs cousin did his whole house. I love the crown moulings. They are gorgeous.

Wow you are one lucky girl Tara to be married to a contractor. Any pictures? Thanks ladies for the help.

Re: Crown Mouldings ?
We've been putting crown moulding up as we remodel each room. We have MDF Egg & Dart in the dining room and wood in the 2 guestrooms (all of which are painted.)
Here's a close up of the Egg & Dart in the Dining Room:
We have a standard colonial moulding in the guestrooms:

Re: Crown Mouldings ?
Believe it or not, they make high-density FOAM crown moulding!!! Its sooooo much cheaper than the wood, and easier to work with. I'll take some pics tomorrow if anyone's interested, but I swear to you, it really looks like real wood!!! A friend of the family recommended this and did it for us, and it really is beautiful, and because of all the $$$ I saved, I was able to do 2 other rooms too.

Re: Crown Mouldings ?
I saw the foam ones on ebay. I was not too sure of how they would actually look. I would love to see pictures. Definitely post pictures for us. Here is a link to the ebay auction:
Ok, I snapped some dining room pics this morning - I have to add that I had this (the foam mouldings) done as a gift to my mom, and this is HER HOUSE! (that I am still living in, til I'm married. ) We decorated for xmas yesterday too, so it looks all pretty
