We've decided we are going to go on a cruise for our HM. We won't be going until January. We are interested in either the Caribbean or Mexico. Does anyone have any recommendations for cruiselines that would be good for a HM couple? Also, how long should we go for (does it get 'old' after 5 days, etc).
Neither one of us has ever been on a cruise, so any advice is appreciated......
Thanks!

Re: Cruise help....
I have been on both carnival and royal carribean. I thought RC was much better. Better shows, and food. I would go with RC for a honeymoon. I think 7 days is perfect, you don't truly relax until the 2nd or 3rd day.
if you want anymore info FM me.

Re: Cruise help....
We've never been on a cruise either. I hear it's great though.
From the research I've done...Royal Caribbean is the better one for HM, Carnival has more kids.
We're doing a 7 night Western Caribbean..so I hope that's not too long. hope that helps, happy planning!

Norwegian and Royal Carribbean would be great. I've only been on 5 and 7 day cruises and I never want them to end!

Hi! Thanks so much for your reply- I'm definitely going to go with Royal Caribbean. Which destinations are you heading to?

I forgot to mention. If you book with Direct Line Cruises. (In Hauppauge) they give you free travel insurance. so if something should happen you won't lose your money.

Celebrity(my favorite), RC, or Holland America. Princess is also very nice, but for a honeymoon, you want to go top of the line. I am not a big fan of the western Caribbean, so I would suggest Eastern Caribbean out of Florida. Or you can go out of San Juan, which goes to the best places. Try for at least a 7 day cruise, nothing less then that.

Re: Cruise help....
Ive been to Royal Carribbean and Norwegian ( I just came back Sunday from Norwegian) during January I know the Norwegian Dawn has a 12 day cruise that leaves from New York and goes down to SOUTH carribean which is supposed to be AMAZING!!! The prices are also cheaper for winter months since not alot of people can take off from work or do so during that time! As for Royal carribbean Im not sure what they do during those months but like somoene mentioned before I definately think Royal Carribeean was a better cruise and I am planning my next summer vacation with them ( will be my 4th cruise). You never get bored on a cruise- they have many activities on board and Ive seen alot of honeymooners also! Hope this helps!!! Check out travelocity or expedia for fun and see what other cruises are offered for January!

Definitely check out www.cruisecritic.com. It has a message board similar to this and it is so helpful!
I went on both Royal Caribbean and Carnival, and prefer Carnival hands down. (I'm probably in the minority here, though.) The food was so much better on Carnival, and they have high tea, which I love! The decor on Carnival has been said to be too 'Vegas-y' with the neon lights and flashy colors, but I still love it. Royal felt like a fancy hotel, it didn't feel as tropical as it should have.
There are definitely less kids on Royal, but on most cruises, the kids are in the kids' clubs all day, so you don't see them anyway.
My must-haves: -A balcony room. -A room in the middle of the ship. (I got so sick when our room was closer to the front of the ship.) -A table for two at dinner. - As soon as you get on the ship, head to the dining room and the maitre d' to request it. If it's your HM, I think they will definitely oblige.
If you have any questions, FM me.
Edited because I wrote the wrong website for the message boards. I book through www.crucon.com and use the message boards on www.cruisecritic.com.

Re: Cruise help....
I can tell you this... stay away from Carnival cruises, unless you want a ton of kids all around.

Re: Cruise help....
i would NOT do carnival for your HM- fun but not for a HM IMO Food is WAY better on Royal and PRincess
Princess is an older crowd so I would do Royal if I were you.
Def get a window or balcony(they may even upgrade you- def. play the Honeymoon card! )
I would do no less than a week- i found with the 3-5 day cruises you get a different kind of crowd, also it surely does NOT get old, it is so much fun, a lot to do, or JUST relax, and eat...get off the ship go sight seeing/the beach/shop You will love it!
have fun

I like Celebrity. There is another website you can check out, www.cruisecritic.com that has all sorts of useful info, professional and customer reviews, message boards and info about which ship to go on for what. Here is their link for 'romance'

Re: Cruise help....
Celebrity or RCCL. Definitely need an outside stateroom or better. I prefer Eastern or S. Carribean, but Western was fun and much cheaper. I think 5 days would not be enough b/c when we have done 7 days we end up feeling like we wish we had more. But, we did go on a 10 day once and I will say that did feel like too long. Too much drinking, etc. Ended up feeling worn out. So I think 7 would be perfect! I would also suggest late seating for dinner for a younger honeymoon couple. I know RCCL was great in that for our HM they sat us with 3 other HM couples, which was so much fun. We swapped wedding woes and stories. It was nice of them to go the extra mile to place us with them. You'll have a great time no matter what you pick

Re: Cruise help....
Jan 2005 I went on a RCCL ship to Caymen, Costa Maya, Belize, and Cozumel. There were no kids on the ship at all. The night club was pretty dead too. It was the only time I have ever cruised on a senior citizen ship. After 10, the place was a ghost town. We had a fantastic time, but no night scene on the ship. We were also on Splendor of the Seas, if you want more action, I would recommend a ship gear towards kids with rock climbing walls and such. I loved it because there were no kids in the pools.
