Re: cruise help please
I have never been on a cruise but whenever I travel with a lot of friends, I am almost never in my room. I would go for the large stateroom.

Re: cruise help please
I have been on a cruise and like Christine said you will spend very little time in your room. There is so much to do on & off the boat i really feel IMO that the balcony is nothing to really need!

so ggod to hear that - the reviews I read said the rooms were small, but 139 sq ft should be OK

I have been on a ton of cruises (going on one next week in fact) and honestly while balconies are nice they are not necessary. You should be fine in an ocean view cabin. You will most likely only be in the room to sleep and shower : ).
What line are you looking at?

Re: cruise help please
as an FYI I work in the cruise industry and will be the first to tell you you are not in your room that often so a balcony is nice, but not necessary. However most people who do have one usually want nothing but a balcony next time around
The Nordic Empress - are you going after May? Royal Caribbean has changeg their pier from NYC (55th St and 12th Ave) to one that is being built in Bayonne, NJ. They expect to start sailing out from Bayonne in May 2004.
If you have any other questions, just ask

Unles you are doing the Panama Cruise an Oceanview is fine. You probably wont spend much time in your room. Save the money for the excursions!

Re: cruise help please
I have never had an inside room - but have had room with just a window before -
They are fine - of course it is great to be able to sit on a balcony - but I would NOT turn down a cruise for lack of a veranda.
You spend so little time in your room other than to dress, and sleep that it really doesn't matter -

Re: cruise help please
yes it was too small
we live in an apartment so when we can away we like to have a big room
we would have liked to sit on the baloncy at night in our pj's
and the beds were 2 twin beds and we had to put them together
and the bathroom was REALLY small only 1 person in there at a time and we are not big people
when we go away and spend all that money we like to get our monies worth
we didnt spend alot of time in there but the time we did we wernt like i dont ever want to leave here and we like that feeling

Re: cruise help please
Ive been on several cruises both with and without windows and with and without balcony. After having a balcony, I am having a hard time going back to a non balcony room. I never realized how much more enjoyable a cruise with a balcony is but there is a difference. (sorry)
But the good news is that you have never been in a balcony room, you will not miss it. You can have a great time even in the smallest room b/c you HAVE to spend a lot of time in the room if you dont want to.
We are going on a cruise in August (someone wedding so we have no choice) and there are no balconies anywhere on the ship. Im bummed but I will get over it.

Re: cruise help please
IMO, there is no need for a balcony room. Do you plan on spending a majority of your time in your room besides, sleeping showering and getting dressed. I hardly spent any time in my rooms when I went on cruises. It may be nice, but I think it's a waste of $$.
