Crushed bows
Do you know if the bows used to closed double flap invites get crushed once you put it in the envelope? Does it still look nice when you take it out? Lisa, thanks for the Invitations by Dawn suggestion.

Crushed bows
I have received invitations with bows that were crushed and some that were fine. You never know how the post office is going to handle them.

Crushed bows...ask the Post Office...
if they can hand-cancel the envelopes, instead of running them through a machine for the postmark. That way, the bow might be saved from being totally crushed. My cousin had the post office hand-cancel her invites a year ago - not b/c of a crushed bow reason - but, b/c she didn't want the 'Whoville' promotional postmark that the post office was using on her wedding invitations!

Crushed bows
I once saw a box that the bride can send those type of invites in. It was super expensive though, plus tons extra postage. I was worried about the same thing so I opted against the bows.

Crushed bows
I am having the same problem right now, I don't know what to do. I did a test run on one of my invites and it popped it back up, but who will take the time to look at it. I really am just going to send it like that, it is too small a detail for me to worry about. Happy planning all

Claud- About hand cancel
Some of the girls on the site said that even though each invite was hand cancelled the post office still runs them through the machines. Can you ask your cousin about that? I remember reading about it a few months back, some of the girls even got the Whoville postmark even though each was hand-stamped.

That happened to us ..
Our invites were all hand canceled, but were put through the machine anyway. Before going in to the Post Office to have them hand canceled, I had received permission from the head of my particular branch. When I started realizing our invites had been machine canceled after being hand canceled, I called to complain, and the Post Office told me it was a mistake and apologized.

me too
I talked to 3 people at the post office and they all assured me they would be hand-canceled. They weren't. The machine destroyed the wax seals and put holes in the envelopes. I was not happy.

hmmm
I received not a bow, but a tie/knot...it looked great and no crushing... My STD cards card a rope tied and I went to the N Wantagh PO (at Christmas time) and asked if it would be OK to go through the machines...he said it might be, but gave me the stamp to hand stamp them and a stamp to make fragile on the envelopes..they are super nice there...it never went through the machine...maybe b/c of the fragile...Welcome New Vendors
