Curiosity

Ok, so for the bird seed toss after the ceremony I am handing out silk DIY roses that the guests can just flick and the bird seed will come flowing out. I have a min of 175 at RH... and I know not everyone comes to the church...How many do you think I should make? I have about 30 done so far...

THANKS!

Just so you know Dani....
This was done in one of my mother's friends weddings.. I was the flower girl (but a limited FG.. didn't walk down the aisle... just handed out these)... and they had the exact same flowers you made! And so ever since 1986 I have been in love with them... so when the time comes.. I will be hunting you down for the directions on how to make them! Because I want them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I figured we would use that heart shaped white bird thingy fm Michael's in there.

How big is your wedding party? How many guests did you invite to the RH? Off the bat, I would say 60. Don't know if I am overshooting.. as I tend to do. ... but you always want to have some extras so everyone can get one.. and also... some for you to keep as momentos for you and some of your family. I know some of my BM's will be keeping lil momentos fm my wedding. they are like that... and I am too! Big time!

I think 60 would be more than enough, you can always have an extra bag of bird seed if more people need it.

Aww thanks. They are actually rather easy to make...they are just rather time consuming. When I just got engaged I saw them somewhere and I fell in love. So, when I made my first one, my mom showed me the ones that were used in my sisters best freidns wedding...they were smaller and used for candy instead, but it was the same thing. Yes, I want to make extra just so people can keep them. I know there are certain people that def will be keeping them. I have a large large BP lol.. I'll prolly stick with the 65 or 70 ish..HA. That way I can get some pink thrown in there too. I have 27 purples, and all the blues are already cut, just need to put togheter. LOL. Id rather have too much then no enough. I still don't know who I want to have hand them out.. Maybe FHs little cousin...he's 13 or so. lol. Just don't know.

I was also thinking of making some for each plate, and spraying them with starch on the outside so they are more stiff so to speak, and putting personalized M&Ms in them for each guest. I just don't think I have enough patience to make an addatinoal 175 of them! I do have help, but I am a perfectionist, so I spend more time fixing the ones that everyone else does before I finish mine. LOL. Oops.

And, don't worry..>I'll totally help you make them with detailed directions!

Yay! My favorite sentence in all of that was the last one! I so happy now!

the M&M idea is very cute! And I am the same way... prefectionist so I know what that's like. I'm even iffy on recruiting helpers for my DIY projects... even the huge ones! I just don't trust some people. Usually if someone offers to help me I warn them first.. I let them know.. if they suck or mess up too much they are fired and can only sit and watch and drink! Ha ha ha! This usually weines out the pple who lie and say they are crafty and arent.. and it makes me not feel so bad when I have to change the project I gave someone bc they suck at it. I had one girl who kept giggling about how she messed up.. AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN.. finally I was like.. I only have so many materials and if you can't do it can you please stop? ha ha ha! i was joking but yet i meant what i said.. and so she stopped working on that project and she started drinking and just hanging out. But what good is the help if I have to throw it away in the end? Then it's just costing me money and supplies and time! Sorry about the vent. But my mother never understands why I dont get like 50 pple to come help me with my STD's that I should be working on right now but aren't.
I plan on making my invitations out of silk...and the instructions say to spray it with starch.... so I will have a similiar project working with silk and starch!

65 to 70 sounds fine to me!

Haha..I'm glad I made you happy! LOL

Yea, I'm the SAME EXACT way. I had my MOH come over and kept do it WRONG! I was like, c'mon already! That just cost me $25!! HAhA. I tried to say it nicely, but it's my wedding we're talking about ...not a sweet 16 or something. Everything has to be perfect...specially if all the guests are going to know what I MADE. haha. Oh well...whatever. So, again, I'm doing most of it myself. I may have my oldest sis come help me out with some of the roses b/c I KNOW that she is amazing with crafts, and just as a perfectionist as I am...but she talks soooo much. I like to stay quiet when I'm busy...so I don't know how much that would get under my skin! HAHA. Oh well... Maybe I'll suck it up if I end up having to make all 175!! HAHA. We shall see!

Oh, and believe me...those roses are sooo easy to make... Maybe I should take step by step pics for ya so it's even easier?? LOL

hey man now I am just thinking maybe me and you should just get together for all our arts and crafts and help eachother since we are both prefectionist freaks about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a lot of work to do alone. I am making 140 STD's and each STD is sooo many steps... it's like 10 projects in one... times 140!

i too have to be in the mood.. and I keep making plans in my head to get all crafty then when I don't do it I fell like a bit of a failure or lazy arse! But then when i do work... I WORK.. like 12 hours straight! Like a freak!
I spent one entire weekend... with a single hole puncher in the shape of a snowflake and punched one snowflake out at a time from this oragami paper... the snowflakes are to be used as filler in the STD shake box. Seriosuly I punched thousands of these lil suckers!!!!
Well... at first I bought huge oaktag paper (blue and silver) and had to cut it all down to size (i have a papercutter yay!). then affter I cut the blue down to size I had to use one of those razor pencil thingys to cut out the frame part. then cut the clear paper... then print and cut the wording paper (which is white). then emboss the back of the silver paper (bc i'm super gay and had to emboss the back that says handmade by Kerri... because yes I am proud of my work and damnitt i want recognition!) then attach the wording paper to the silver paper. Then emboss the frame with snowflakes (and BTW no 2 are alike.. all different snowflakes and stuff)... then attack the embossed fram to the clear paper... then with foam adhesive tape and gorilla glue put the whole thing together wtih filler.... (diamond dust and the ha ha snowflakes i spend a weekend cutting out!). And the last step??? put the magent on the backs. Then figure out how the hell to mail them. Here's some pics!

Woopsy! Here they are!
Now these are the very first tester ones I made. I went back and changed some things... like the font size bc it looked like I was marrying myself... you couldn't see johns name bc of the filler.. I also thinned out the frames a lil bit. But I don't have any of the new new ones complete yet... so no pics of that... and i will also get a pic of hte back when I am done and you can see my stupid handmade by Kerri! ha ha ha!

Pics didnt' work....

They sound AMAZING though! I just had FH make magnets! Then he printed out a little poem on a card so we put the magnet in the card. He did that all on his OWN! lol. I wasn't very creative...haha.

I'm the same way... when I get in the mood..it lasts...for a long time too! Like, ALL of Dec. I got sooo much done! Then Christmas came and went, and now I'm like BLAH! I don't feel like doing anything anymore.
That's a good idea to but your name on it..I didn't think of that at all! Now I need to look back on everything and see where and how I can add my name!! HAHAHAHA
I want Pics! LOL

Have you tried Embossing yet? it's amazing! I learned some things though.. like the first set of stamps i bought were crappy and the plastic ones are wayyy better... and some other things. I think doing DIY projects and learning new crafts is where you can end up spending more money than if you were to just purchase the item. But it's sooo much more personal and you get EXACTLY what you want!
