Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Curly and I had a discussion on this, which really had me thinking, so I thought I'd ask all Cassarino Brides:

Have any of you using Cassarino decided to pay the extra $700 for the extra photographer that specializes in the Photojournalistic Photos?

At first I did not, b/c I know Nick, the photographer I chose, is extremely talented.
But then I was thinking, after looking at some pics, especially Shamma's I really want quite a few of those types of pics.
I'm going to call Cassarino and add it to my package.
What's another $700 for that kind of creativity?

What do you all think?

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Liz...I was not a Cassarino bride but if I had to do it all over again with any photographer I would definetly pay extra for Photojournalistic Photos.
I am very happy with my photos now but I would of loved that something extra.

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

This is crazy, I have been wrestling with this like CRAZY. I really want to add the photographer, and I'm trying to figure out a way to afford it!! I know our regular photographer will be great, but those candid's just add something so special to everything!

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Hi Liz, we are also using Cassarino, but chose not to go with the extra $$ photojournalist. It really became a matter of $$. Also, two of my friends are aspiring semi-pro photographers and have offered to do candid B&Ws for us. They even drew up a 'contract', had me list shots I'd like and committed to a certain # of proofs. They have their own studio space, darkroom, etc. and invited us to help with developing, if we wanted to. So far, so good!

Hope your planning is going well!!

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

I used Cassarino for my wedding in June (we had Nick also). We did not have a second photographer for photojournalism. We LOVE our proofs - there are some great candid dancing photos that I love - but that was enough for us.

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Liz, honestly - I disagree with some of the other brides. If you can afford the extra $700 without going over your budget, I say GO FOR IT! As someone else has said before, your wedding day is not a dress rehearsal, and you can only do it once so you'll want to capture AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in photographs and video.

In my opinion, the photos and video are the two most important aspects of the wedding, b/c when the day is over - they are all you will have left to help you relive the moment.

Do not compromise. This is my honest opinion. I do not think that another $700 is a big price to pay in order to get exactly the kind of creativity that you are looking for. I would have paid it, if I had been given the option.

Ultimately, it is your decision, but that is my opinion, and I hope it helps you with a newlywed's perspective.

I agree. While I don't know if I will have the money to add the photographer, if 700 bucks falls from the sky that is the first thing I will add!

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Thank you everyone.
Claud2001, you made some great points. I think you are right. Thanks
Mistyeyed, you are too cute. I think I may have an extra $700, and I will go for it.
I have been thinking about this so much, if I don't do it, I KNOW I will regret it.
Thanks so much

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Hi again, I didn't mean for my response to give you the impression not to go with the photojournalist...I was just letting you know what we chose to do.

Like Claud said, photos are so, so important-spend what you can. Unfortunately, we busted our budget and could not afford the additonal expense of the extra photographer. And our friends stepped in a just the right time!

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

I am a Cassarino Bride. We decided not to go with the extra $$ for the photojournalistic pics.... Cassarino will turn 6 of our photos into black and white for the album, our portrait is going to be in Sepia and another smaller portrait black and white with the hand paint (I think that's what it's called)... We figured that was enough special pics for us! But that was just our own opinion... We felt we were getting enough, without having to spend $700 extra... Good luck! Let us know if you need anymore help!

That's right Liz, They do not shoot in Black and White but you do get the option (at least in my package) of converting a few color pics to B&W for your album.

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Liz, it may say it on your contract. I think it says it on mine. It says 56 photos in album, 4 black and white (included in total 56 pics).

Re: Curly2003 and other Brides using Cassarino. . ..

Hmm...liz, I would call the studio to discuss this with them. Especially re: the B&W shooting. It is unsual that a photographer doesn't shoot in original B&W film, although it's not a major issue since color negatives can be converted. But, don't you want some original B&W? I guess it's up to you.

Also - B&W shooting doesn't mean candid or photojournalistic. The color of a photo doesn't change the style. Choose the candid photographer based on style, not on color or B&W photos b/c as was stated above, you can convert the color photos after the fact.

Ugh - this is all so stressful I know. I remember going through this decision process and getting so confused with all the different studios and options that I was given. Boy, if I had it to do over!!!
