Hi- So I went to the Watermill showcase last night and LOVED the band Heart & Soul. And I was happy that the were reasonably priced...as reasonable as a band can go. I called my Dad this morning and he told me that if they arent at least 10k...they must not be a good band. Is this the most ridiculous thing you have heard? It is to me? Does anyone agree with him?

I agree. Think you can still get quality for a good price.

That's exactly what I told him! Not everyone can afford a $12,000 dollar band! On that note...I loved Heart & Soul but am open to other recommendations

I don't think a price sets whether something is good or not. You heard them play, you know what you'll be getting. If you thought they were great then that's all you need. Make an appointment to meet with them at least and go over price, maybe they can give you a CD or DVD demo......

I got the free sample DVD of Heart and Soul. I liked them... and now that I know they're less than 10k, maybe I'll book them! I really want a band.. need to convince FH.

Re: Dad and his opinions
I responded to this on the BHB board.
I will add this.....I saw about a dozen djs and bands. Most bands were about $8-$10k, most djs were under $2k. No one was blowing me away and this was probably my most difficult decision. Finally my mom's hairdressers boyfriends daughter (did u follow that??) recommended Vali Entertainment. They are a well known band in NYC. I went to check them out with my mom and they were AWESOME!!! My mom said they were out of budget but the girl totally worked with us. Instead of 10pieces, we took 7 and we are paying in cash so we got a much better deal. They were so good my mom didn't care she had to get them for me. But it worked for her bc it ended up being in the typical band range. And who am I to agrue???
So it worked out for me. You can definitely negotiate.

They are actually MUCH better in person. They gave me the DVD to take home...and both FH and I thought they were better live...which isnt always the case. FM me if you want the quote I got
