Just when I thought things were going better at my job, I got fired right before lunch. One of my co-workers just called me and told me that out of everyone they ever had in my position, I actually lasted the longest. (An entire 3 months!!!)
Granted, I was thinking of looking elsewhere, since my boss was one of those types that was never satisfied no matter what and was very condescending. It was normal for her to talk and treat everyone as if they were a child.
My only saving grace is that I have a lot of experience, and I can go into accounting, bookkeeping or office management. So I have some options, however because I have limited use of a car, I'm stuck looking in Farmingdale, Melville, Huntington, Commack, Hauppauge and Smithtown.
Anyone know someone who's hiring?

I beleive you can collect unemployment if you get fired. Just have to do it the right way!

So sorry, that really s*c ks!!! But its great you have such a positive attitude! You really should look into unemployment, you might be suprised to find you are eligible!

I take the 5:17 train every day. It isn't bad. You just have to find a job that you love. (Which thankfully I do). Plus working in the city you usually get paid a little more so it makes up for the train ticket.

Don't get me wrong, I have NO PROBLEMS with working in the city, it's my FH who has a problem with it!!! He hates the idea of having to get up an hour earlier to drive me to the train and pick me up at night!!
I've lived in what used to be called a '2-fare zone' almost my entire life!! Taking a bus to some trains and an hour and a half commute doesn't faze me, but it bothers my FH because it inconveniences him!!

But, if it inconveniences your FH...and you want to respect that...your choice.

LOL OK thanks, Christine, but since I've gotten home I've been looking and a fellow bride was nice enough to pass my resume on at her office!!!
I already have an interview lined up for Monday.
I sent my resume to about 40 places already since I've been home. I've been running back and forth between the fax machine and my emails!!! I look like a lunatic!!!
Most of them are Bookkeeping positions, but I have a few that are Office Managers and Admin Assts. I'm lucky that I can do all 3!!!

Woohoo heard back from someone at Intellidyne!!! They want to set up an interview!!
Yay!! Things are working already!!! I think I'm up to about 60 resumes sent out now!!

You have to have at least 6 months of employment, but I've been continuously employed for years!!! The longest gap I had was a month and that was when I filed for unemployment last time!!
I think they don't give it to you if you haven't been working for 6 months or longer.
