Dark red - dining room
I had planned on doing a dark red paint in our dining room with a coordinating beige on the ceiling and cream woodwork. I saw all the samples together on a swatch of a sample room and they look great together. However my question is the dark red outdated?

Re: Dark red - dining room
I think a deep color like that is VERY classy, and would definitely look beautiful with the colors you mentioned. Just curious, what color is your dining room set? (or what color will it be, if you don't have one already.)Sounds great to me!

Thanks!!!
Work starts today on the dining room. They say they may have it painted by Christmas. It is a set from Broyhill. There is a store in Farmingdale 110 that sells and distributes their furniture. It is a well known company that has been around for awhile and is great quality.
You can check out the website here:

THanks Skew - I don't remember the red color - but it is shown on a card with the other lighter color - that is Litchfield Gray (even though it isnt gray at all) Its Ben moore. Here are some other updated pics. (The lighter color is the same in the dining room) ps...we still have a lot of decorating to do so excuse the empty feeling.

Re: Dark red - dining room
It looks fantastic! Thank you for sharing, it has given me some great ideas. We are going to do something similiar with the lighter coordinating color, but in our living room, since one opens to the other.

Re: Dark red - dining room
yup - all litchfield grey - it's a really nice color - it looks cooler in cool light - warmer in warm light - sometimes it looks almost white and other times far from it. I love it because I hate 'yellow' creams - this is much more of a neutral beige.I have also a third color in the room (ill take a pic of that later) by the stairs - its dark...some days it looks like army green (khaki) and sometimes it looks like a warm brown - it is an interesting color and everyone comments on how the colors in the house change - but yet work well together.
I am not a boaster - but I can say that if i have one talent it's picking paint colors, I have done it for my in laws, neighbors(without even seeing the rug they wanted to match I picked the color!), friends, and parents....they all come to me - I think it is becuase I am not afraid of experimenting or trying colors that others are scared of because they are dark or bold. I believe there can be a dark - but neutral color that wont overpower your furniture.

DAMMIT, i looked on the BM site and can't find Litchfield Gray. this happened to me another time when my friend gave me a color name from BM. why must they change the names? or maybe i am searching wrong (wouldn't be suprised).
did you paint awhile ago? maybe i'll go into abboffs and ask if they still sell those colors. i'll stock pile them if i have to.
