David's bridal?

Has anyone purchased a wedding gown their? What about Bridesmaid dresses? If so, what is ur opinions about them...I havent been their but i was thinking of going to try on gowns? is it too cheap of a place for wedding gowns? I dont want to spend 2000 for a dress, but i dont want something cheap looking either, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! thank you.

Re: David's bridal?

I went there before I went anywhere else...tbh, for the prices they were asking for the dresses I liked, I could (and did) get a much nicer dress. Their dresses kind of feel...I don't want to say cheap, but they feel flimsy. Also the seams really concerned me, it kinda felt like the gowns might tear or rip easier.

Check out maggiesotterro.com...her dresses are GORGEOUS and the prices run from like $800-$2000...I got my Maggie for $1200 and there is a huge quality difference between it and comparable dresses I tried on at David's.

Not to bash anyone who got their dress there, this is JMO. YMMV.

Re: David's bridal?

I bought my dress there but i only tried on on dress because i knew it was the one that i wanted. you can see pics of it in my album. i don't think that all of the dresses are cheap or flimsy feeling, it all depends on what you try on. Go when they have a sale and you might get a deal...what the heck right, its worth a shot. My dress was on sale so I ended up getting my dress, mantilla veil, and slip for like $800 or so. Check out the pics in my album if you want to see it.

Re: David's bridal?

They had some nice dresses, I didn't get my gown there but we are getting briesmaid dresses there. I went to lake grove, the salespeople were very nice but seemed as though they weren't very knowledgeable in some areas...

Re: David's bridal?

I purchased my second dress (for reception) & bridesmaid dresses at David's Bridal. I didn't have any negative experience at all when trying on and purchasing the dress except when it came to alterations. My girls & I went to David's Bridal in Bklyn and the salesgirl that helped us was very knowledgable and nice. The dresses were not cheap looking IMO and we paid a good price for them.

Re: David's bridal?

I got a bridesmaid dress from there. I had a great experience, and was not pressured to have alterations done there. I heard that some other girls did get pressured, however.

Re: David's bridal?

My cousin's dress was nice. They have a nice variety in a sense you can try on their diff styles to get an idea if the dress style is right for your body type. They range in quality, like any place. As for BM dresses, just bought my BM dress there in Nov. for my cousin's wedding. All was good. Had alterations done at the tailor we always use. But haven't had any issues. I would suggest checking them out...everyone has a diff experience there. Then go to places like Kleinfeld and RK Bridal.
Good Luck!

Re: David's bridal?

i am not a fan of davids bridal only bc i have had really bad experiences with their customer service. I was a bm for my friends wedding and all the girls were in different locations...we all had bad experiences so it wasn't just the location i went to. I just felt that they were rude and unprofessional, they didnt call when our dresses were in and when i called to check they said i had to come in that day to pick the dress up or they would send it back bc they don't hold dresses longer than 2 weeks. Im like umm no i have 2 weeks from today since u never called me.. grr

Re: David's bridal?

I was in my friends wedding and we got the BM dresses from David's Bridal.

The dresses were good quality, and we didn't have any real problems....but the alterations department didn't really have the best customer service. The bride got her alterations done someplace else but had a beautiful dress from David's Bridal

My recomendation would be if you buy you wedding dress there to get it altered someplace else.

Re: David's bridal?

I got my dress from there (pics in my album) I tried on probably everything in the store, too. Some of the dresses do feel kinda cheap and flimsy but there are others that aren't and happen to be beautiful. For the price that you are looking for it's a good place to shop.

Haven't decided about whether or not I am going to do alterations through them tho b/c I have heard alot of mixed reviews.

I have gotten tons of BM dresses from there too and I have never had a problem. My BMs ordered from there too.

Re: David's bridal?

I got my dress there yesterday. So very happy with them. I went to the one in LIC and I had Trina she was so helpful and patient with me. I tried on the dress I bought like 4 times and she always had a smile on her face. She didnt push a more expensive gown on me, actually agreed that the dress I bought looked the best on me, which was one of the cheaper ones I tried on. My SIL got her MOH dress yesterday also. I had a great experience there and I recommend Trina if you go to the one in LIC!!

Re: David's bridal?

I got my dress from DB. I only bought my dress there because I really really loved one particular dress and it was a good price. My first experience was great, my consultant was sooo nice but when I went back to pick up my dress it was the complete opposite. They made me feel like I wasn't an important costumer, they got my money and they didn't care about me anymore. The person they told to help me, didn't even help. HE just placed my dress in the smallest dressing room and left; didn't even take my dress out of the plastic bag or anything. I mean that was the least he could have done. Personally, I would not go back there to have my dress altered because I did not like the way I was treated.

If you get nice people to help you then your visit to the store will be great, but if you just get thrown in a dressing room and forgotten about then that just ruin's your view of the place.

Also, they don't give you a garment bag to put your dress in. They tried to give me my wedding gown in a large plastic dress bag. I live in Brooklyn and I bought my dress in the city, I was not going to go on the train with my gown in a plastic shopping bag. I had to buy the garment bag, which I thought was ridiculous.

Went to the DB in Brooklyn for my BM dress for my friends wedding, it was better there. Every one's visit will be different, if you go I hope you have a better shopping experience.

Re: David's bridal?

I bought my dress there and got it for a great price. Also going to be ordering the bridesmaid dresses from there as well. I did think some of the dresses were a little cheap looking but they also have some REALLY nice ones too. I saw nicer ones there as compared to other places I went and the dresses cost 3x as much as the ones at DB.

Re: David's bridal?

I went to the one by the smithaven mall about three weeks ago and it was HORRIBLE!!!!! It was the first place i went to try on dresses, and the women working there actually had not a clue what she was doing. She was asking me to look through a pamphlet they had for styles i liked... and wouldn't bring over what i said or bring over one not my size.( way too small so i couldn't even get a feel for what it would look like cause i couldnt get it on) Then the store manager came over and was rude, I was trying to find dresses... my sister ended up pulling dresses for me.. the whole experience was just ridiculous. I personally would never buy my dress from there.. they totally turned me off.
