Re: David's Bridal Dresses

As a former employee of David's Bridal who also had a NIGHTMARE experience with poor service (and I got my alterations done elsewhere), I'm going to have to say that shopping there is a Huge Cr@p shoot.

You can find similar dresses at similar prices, just keep looking.

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I got my dress from there, and I took it elsewhere to have it altered. The staff at Davids is really just OK, and I didn't want to stress out over having it altered there and something possibly happening to the dress.

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I got my BM's dresses from there. Although I loved them, I would never go back. For a $100 dress, they charged my BM $75 for a horrible hem and ruined it in the process. They ended up having to overnight a dress for her and there was no time to alter it, so she was the only one with fake straps on a strapless dress.

They also lost my dress, so I ended up going somewhere else. I highly recommend staying away from them. Yes, we hear bad things about everyone, but I think the overwhelming amount of negative responses speaks volumes.

I've heard negative things about almost every shop. Just go in open minded and make sure you're ready to be patient.

well put

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I bought my dress there (the one in the Source Mall) and so far I have not had a problem.

I have my first fitting on Monday and I'm getting nervous about having it altered there

I'm hearing too many negative things about their alterations.

WHAT DO I DO????

Anyone have a GOOD experience with their alterations???

I think the biggest issue with them is the cost of the alterations. Also, give yourself time, don't wait till the last minute.

I got my dress and my bridesmaids dresses from there and had no problems! I LOVED my dress and I had a great experience with them. I did not use them for alterations.

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I have a appointment there on Monday-and I have been there before and the woman helping me is AMAZING! She is honest about how things look (I love that, if my a$$ looks big-TELL ME!). SHe called to confirm my appointment, and ask how many girls I was bringing so she could block enough time. She is engaged as well, and could not be any sweeter.

I have my first fitting there on Monday too!! I hope I'm not making a mistake by using them for the alterations. I guess we'll just have to see Anyone recommend anyone specific there to work with in that department?

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I bought my dress from David's Bridal as well. The only reason why I am 99% sure I am taking it there for alterations is b/c if they screw it up, they WILL order me a new dress. If I take it elsewhere, since it's a David's Bridal dress I feel it will not be as easy to get a new one out of them. They may claim it's not screwed up, etc. Any input on this would be appreciated!!

Their alteration costs actually cap at $150... but they do a really terrible job... so you have to, ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO, take your dress elsewhere to be altered.

***Also, and this is HUGE... I heard a story from a bride who got her dress there and didn't specify that she wanted a new dress, so you MUST specify that you want a brand new dress. This was the very reason that made me so skeptical about this place, but I've fallen in love with two dresses there....

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I bought my dress from David's and heard the same horror stories.

Luckily, the LIW girls I've spoken to at the GTGs swear by Phyllis at Gownfind.

I went to see Phyllis at the start of June to get a free estimation, her cost was phenomenal and I ended up going with her and finishing my alterations on the spot!!!

I never heard of this alteration cap. Is that at all david's bridals? I went to the one in Westbury.

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

Well that's good to know!! And I just spoke with my landlord who got her dress and altered it at David's. She said the customer service was poor (as we all know), but that once said and done the dress turned out fine. So I'm not going to stress about it.

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

I wouldn't stress, just as long as you know what you could potentially be dealing with. Let's face it, if they were that terrible, they wouldn't be in business anymore.

Re: David's Bridal Dresses

So I decided to look there for a dress... mainly just to get an idea of what looks good and what doesn't. It's a jumping off point. My question now that I'll be trying on dresses is... do they provide you with a bra? I know that must sound silly, but I know some other bridal boutiques provide a bra for trying on purposes. Does David's do that?

Yes they do - they'll bring you an assortment depending on the dress you try on and what would look best with it.

well...for me, they refused to book a fitting that was far enough away to order a new dress for me before the wedding...i wasn't taking that risk.
