You can always buy the dress there and take it somewhere else to be altered.
I took my sister there 2 weeks ago to their facility in LIC. Her sales person was very helpful, for a discount place. Remember, you're going for the discount so you can't expect the same kind of service as a smaller store. As always, you get what you pay for!
I wasn't too impressed w/the quality of gowns for brides, then again, it could have been the sizes we were looking at. My sister is in the 18-22 range...some much smaller seemed a little nicer. The brides maid dresses were very stylish and reasonably priced. Ultimately she ordered a Jasmine gown from Avic in Flushing.

David's Bridal -question for Karen T
It is on Montauk Hwy. in Bay Shore east of 5th Ave. I got my dress there at the end of Sept., and it came in by January. Ask for Maryellen. There is one salesperson that is pushy, mean and snotty. If you get her you will be turned off from the shop. They also match prices up to 15%? off, so shop around.
The website mentioned in the previous post is good. If you want to find out about things to do, also check out the lonelyplanet website. I found it very helpful.

Bridal Suite in Bayshore
Bridal Suite in Bayshore is on E. Main Street. 666-0700 (if memory serves me correctly). Ask for Cynthia. She's GREAT! The gown came in 2 months after I ordered it....MonCheri has 2 gowns w/the rum pink and ivory mix.
I only had a maid of honor and she wore a Watters and Watters silk navy blue sleevless gown. V. simple & pretty. If you want more details on the gown & or want to see photos (i have a web page), email me directly at [email protected]
Good luck!

No - I had my wedding in March @ the MIlleridge. I'm still keeping in touch w/the board b/c I'm helping my little sis plan her big day....next May @ the Astoria World Manor.
I bought my dress at Bay Shore and Mary Ellen helped me also. She was very good and so is Mary (who I think is the manager). I know the other woman you are talking about and I definately agree. I asked her a question about my headpiece that I was having changed and she gave me wrong information (very rudely telling me I was going to be charged extra for this and that). Then Mary came to the rescue and assured me that I wouldn't be charged extra.

David's Bridal -question for Karen T
I forgot to mention to request a cap on the alterations. Also, be firm with the seamstress. She is good at what she does, but seems a bit lazy. There is also a slight communication problem. Make sure you see everything they write down to fix, because they do not understand English perfectly.
I already had two fittings. When I went for the second fitting the hem was only taken up in the front (and still too long), but it is not a big deal. She said she did not know why she left it like that, but it would make a nice little train or she could bustle it for the reception. I already have a detachable train so I had to be persistent. Just be firm about what you want and they will accommodate yo with no questions asked. They will tell you anything to make less work for themselves. They are taking it up all around so it is not a problem. I have a 3rd fitting 8/3. I hope everything is perfect this time.

I don't know. I think they only have 1 who works at night. She pins everything and her sidekick writes down what she says. They're very nice. I just find it slightly hard to understand their thick German or Swedish accents (no offense intended). If you are going in the day you might have someone different.
Thanks for the tip Victoria! When I ordered my dress, I forgot to ask for a cap on alterations until she was ringing me up. So she wrote it on her copy of the receipt. I hope I don't have a problem with that. Do they only have one seamstress?
