David's Bridal

David's Bridal

I've always assumed the quality there is horrible, but it's not like I've ever gotten or even seen a dress there and I only have to wear it once. Do the dresses really suck there? Or, can anyone give me some good reports about them?

I think they just have a 'bad rap' in the bridal gown industry. I dont know why though. I went there and didn't see anything wrong with the dresses. If I saw one I liked I probably would of ordered it from them. I just think it really sucks that whenever you go to any bridal shop and they ask you where you went and you mention Davids Bridal, they cringe... as if its the worst place to go... I think if you find something you love, no matter where you are, you are going to order it. The one thing I didnt like at Davids was that they made you feel like you had to order the dress THAT SAME DAY, or else it would not come in on time, or that it would be discontinued.

Some of their dresses are prettier than some Ive seen in Boutiques. Sometimes people judge without even checking out the dresses. You should check em out to ease your curiousity.

Even if we all said David's sucked, don't you think it would still be worth it to check it our for yourself?

When it comes to wedding gowns, it's all about finding something you love, no matter where it comes from.

When I was shopping for my gown, I tried on everything from $400 David's Bridal gowns to $10,000 St. Pucchi gowns. I've heard alot of success stories from David's as well as alot of horror stories. Your experience could be either or.

I just got my dress from David's. I like my dress better tahn some of the dresses I tried on at a bridal salon. The prices can't be beat.

The quality isn't bad, its the service that you sometimes have to watch out for.

I got my dress from them and I think the quality is the same as every dress in their range ( which is $500-$900). A $2000 dress will be better made, but I love my dress.

ITs more or less the customer service that needs work at David's bridal really. They service a LOT of people, so you do get less of a good experience then a higher end salon.....but it's all a matter of priority.

Again, I love my dress from them( it came in in 2 weeks) and the bridal attendants who helped me were great, so I had no problems..but some have. I also choose to have my dress altered elsewhere...not worth taking a chance on them in my opinion.

I got my dress from kleinfeld after I seen it in magazine... but if I did not know what I want, deffenetly I would first check the David's Bridal. Their is nothing wrong with the store, it cost less to produce and you avoid the bridal shops overcharges. I was very lucky to find the dress I like on sale it was 40% off because it was a sample dress. Something to consider!!!! Good luck

The 2 sales people that helped me both times I was there was just the sweetest. Make an early appointment to go...the earlier you go the less crowded it will be.

i think most people have a huge problem with the service at davids. i have known several people that purchased there gowns there and they looked beautiful. but they did complain about the service you just dont get the kind of attention you do in a smaller bridal shop. but if you could deal with that its worth looking into for the savings. i went to davids when i was looking but my mom didnt like any of the dresses lol. i would give it a shot you cant lose

Re: David's Bridal

I think it really depends on the store...since it is a chain, there is a wide gap in terms of quality of service.

I've read the horror stories. I went to a David's in NJ to try on styles of dresses. As a plus sized bride, I was treated with courtesy. My consultant was nice, offered a couple of suggestions, gave me some good information, and yes, she did push a little bit to sell me a dress. But, that is her job.

I didn't buy a dress from them, and don't plan on doing so. But I had a very positive experience.

My Matron of Honor bought her wedding dress at David's a couple of years ago. She absolutely RAVES about the place. She was trying to convince me to buy my dress there too. And I think we are going to there to look for her bridesmaid dress.

I got my dress there too. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the dresses and the service was ok with me. I think some people have a bad perception of David's because they are the big wedding dress conglomerate and are not as private and personal as smaller boutiques. There is also the whole 'off the rack' thing which is just an option. I ordered my dress and it took about 3 weeks to come in.

You should problably just go and see for yourself, maybe your experience won't be the same as the rest of us.

i went to the one in Albany....but all the ones outside of the city are suposedly better for service than those on LI or queens

just try it- if you feel you are being treated badly, just cut your losses and leave

but you can have a great expecience and find a gorgeous gown for alot less than usual

Re: David's Bridal

I bought my dress at the David's bridal here ( I live in Florida) and I can understand why people here cringe at the thought of davids because IMO it isn't run very well, the staff isn't overly friendly, and it looks a little run down. The DAvid's that I go to in Florida is brand new and beautiful, and much larger- and no one in Florida complains about going there~ ha. I think it has a lot to do with the staff and the presentation of a shop, because that tends to rub off on how you feel about the dresses (where they are coming from, etc)
Also, I guess becuause they sell off the rack, it may not seem as glamorous as getting your dress at a boutique. But, to be honest with you, I have been to about five different shops and I have gone back to using Davids just because of their prices and selection. They also give you 15% off accessories for you and your BM dresses if you buy your dress there.

Man, I wrote a lot! ha. I swear, I am not a vendor~ (LOL)

I am getting my dress from david's bridal and I couldn't be happier!! My dress is a plain strapless a-line which is exactly what I wanted...You can not beat the prices and I thought the same thing you did...I heard many bad things about David's buy I still went and found my dream dress...My bridesmaids are getting their dresses from there also and the dresses are beautiful and it isn't going to break the bank for everyone...Just because you spend a lot on a dress or anything else for your wedding doesn't necessarily mean its better!!

Well, it looks like I'm going to look there! If it's the service that makes it cheaper, I'm all for it. Personally, I can't stand the pouring over that the people in the higher-end salons do. I've heard horror stories about the attitudes of the attendants in Kleinfeld's and other such stores, so I don't mind paying less to not deal with them. It's me and my mom who are going to chose my dress, not the sales lady anyway! Thanks guys, you've been great!

Re: David's Bridal

some of the dresses are poor quality.. but then again some are amazing.

when i went there i had gone to another place first and the woman who helped me there was amazing (i later went back and got my dress there). my mother had specifically requested not to be helped by a certain woman at davids.. because she was NO help whatsoever with my sister. of course we get there and she's the person who's supposed to 'help' us.

she was no help whatsoever, kept wandering off for 20 minutes at a time, and was telling me i was too fat to fit into one of their bras! granted i may not be the smallest girl out there.. but i only wear a 38 bra! so i had a bad experience.. but this was out in PA.

many girls have had wonderful experiences there.. its all in who helps you. i'd definitely say go and check it out, because ya never know until you try.

Re: David's Bridal

I've been to four places already and I can honestly say I had no problems with David's Bridal. The two ladies that helped me were sweet and helpful. I had no intention of having mom spend over $1K for a dress I was going to wear once. I didn't find anything wrong with the quality and thought some of the dresses were beautiful...actually I fell in love with one there.....however........

From my mom's opinon (and take this with a grain of salt since she is VERY difficult) she said the gowns looked cheap and were poorly made). As it stands now however, I would be perfectly happy to buy the gown in Davids

Re: David's Bridal

I am thinking about getting my BM dresses there. I love the seperates and you can't beat the prices. I first went to one in Chicago and it was awesome - just as nice as any salon out there. Then I came home and went to Carle Place and I was appalled!! I plan on checking out the one in NJ. As far as their bridal gowns go - they have a great selection, you can try in on in YOUR size, and again the price is great. You can definitely tell the difference in the quality of the material compared to more expensive dresses, but if you have a smaller dress budget, or just don't want to spend a lot on your dress it's great.

You can look just as beautiful in a dress that costs $900 than one that costs $10,000.

Re: David's Bridal

It seems like the reviews change based on the store location. Anyone been to the one in Lynbrook?
