Davids Bridal

Do I even want to bother??? I've heard a few good things, but more bad things. Anyone care to share experiences?

I'd go check it out. While the stores might leave something to be desired, the actual dresses and the prices are worth a look! I was more impressed with the 2010 David's Bridal line than I was with many 2010 designer lines!

Totally must see! They have a big selection of dresses and the price is right. Can't hurt.

I had a bad experience and I will never go back and I let them know about my experience by filling out their questionnaires about my day there. I guess its a matter of timing that you go, I was a 'walk -in' so maybe if you make an appointment they would treat you better. But they did not leave a good impression on me and what stunk even more was it was my first day out looking for a dress..talk about taking the fun out of it!

David's Bridal is always worth checking out. Especially with their new line of dresses that came out - some are very beautiful. They also don't rush you there, and you can try on as many dresses as you want. Also you can get great deals there if you are on a tight dress budget.

I went once about 6 years ago as a bridesmaid, the service was ok but not memorable. My only issue is I'll be down in NY for 3 days to find a dress and being that I'm hefty plus size samples are sometimes close to impossible to come by.

I know there's two in LI which is the better one. I'm not even going to attempt the new BK one.

I would only go to the one in Massapequa, Ask for Rosa--she is AMAZING!!!!! I had the best experience ever.

Nope. I had an appointment and was still treated like crap.

Depends on the store, apparently.. Westbury was terrible, but I hear MAssapequa is really good.

Definetly worth checking out! They have a huge variety of dresses, all different styles.. you can take pictures of all the dresses you try on.. and the prices are awesome!

I agree, try the Massapequa one they are great. Also, if you can go at night that is the best time, it is less crowded than the weekends.

I got my dress there...if you go to the Westbury one, ask for Donna. She was awesome. She also helped my BM's with their dresses.

Basically, DB is great if you can deal with not having smoke blown up your @ss and don't mind a less-than-plush setting, and if you're working with a small budget.

Good luck!

The mone in massapequa is great. I did not have the greatest experience at the one in lake grove.

Re: Davids Bridal

I hated it when I looked for my dress (near Smithhaven mall)

It was perfect for my BM dresses (Massapequa), but a guy basically called me fat...story at bottom.

I think that some people who work there don't care about their jobs, but some people do. I'd go off of recommendations by other brides and get an appt with the people who care!

STORY: I was browsing for BM dresses and a guy came up to me. The conversation goes as follows:
Him -- Are you a bride or in a bridal party?
Me -- Bride
Him -- Here is a package, we know how hard it is to lose weight for your wedding and I would like to tell you that we're running a promotion to help brides lose those pounds.
Me -- You're calling me fat? (ok...I didn't really say that...I politely thanked him and walked away, but that's what I said when I found my BM).

WHAAAAAAAAAT? this guy was an employee?

He was running a promotion. I didn't take it to heart, but I threw out his papers as soon as I got out of the store!!!!!!!!!

Re: Davids Bridal

It was a DB promotion though? That's so strange!

I would hope that this was someone coming in to DB without permission and doing his soliciting. DB is known for being one of the best places to go for plus-size gowns...they'd really turn off a lot of customers if they allowed that to go on.

Nope -- they had a whole section set up and everything. It was not so nice, but I'm not easily offended. I can imagine how offended some girls may have been though.
