David's Bridal Brides

How are the dresses there? Do they have many to choose from? I am looking for a ball gown type dress or something similar to it with ruffles and stuff like that. I have heard from other people that some places are not nice to many brides., so that concerns me.

You can check out their website. Other brides on here have said they had a good experience with the new one in Massapequa

I will start off by saying the girl that helped me at the Lake Grove DB was so nice, sweet, and helpful.

I was looking for something sparkly, mermaidy, and lacy... They only had 2 dresses that fit my description. They were both nice, but honestly, the dress is detailed, and I found that more 'brand name' dresses had a higher quality detailing. If you are looking for a simpler dress, check it out. H*ll, check it out no matter what... What's the worst that could happen?

I personally am a huge fan of Davids Bridal... I got my dress there, all my BM's and FG will get discounts, my mom got a discount....

they do have a lot of different dress styles, there are ball gowns as well... I tried a few on...

My dress, head band, jewelry, slip, bra, and shoes were $850...

The new one in massapequa, i heard is good... i went to the one in the Source Mall, Westbury

I HATE the one in Westbury!!! Alterations were a nightmare...but I do love my dress...they had several dresses that I liked. They just really need to work on their customer service.

i had a very good experience at DB's in lake grove where i got my dress. i personally prefer the affiliated designers they have like galilina and oleg cassini. so if you see anything on the website you like by those designers i would def. suggest checking it out.

I had a great experience at the one in Lake Grove. Ask for Melissa C. if you go. She was so sweet and helpful.

My mother had a good experience at the one in Lake Grove last year and she was extremely uncomfortable dress shopping the second time around. They helped her find a dress she loved!

I went to the one in Long Island City. I had a great experience there. They are very helpful. They also had thousands of gowns to choose from.

Thanks for helping out with this girls.

I work close to the one in Long Island City and can always head out to the isand to see others as well.

When should I go to check out the dresses, my wedding isn't until september 2011, and also saving cash for the dress would be a plus as well. lol

I was thinking of going between June and Dec of 2010, would the be enough time before the wedding, or go sooner.

Thanks again!!!!

I bought my dress at the one in Westbury but they opened a new one in Massapequa.

I had a good experience there but I did not have the alterations done there because I had heard horror stories.

All of their dresses are on the website, so you can look ahead of time to get an idea of what you like. It's def worth checking in to.

If your wedding isn't until 2011 then I would suggest waiting to purchase something towards the middle to the end of next year because they get new dress styles each season. Also, they tell you that it can take 12 weeks for the dress to come in but mine took less than 4 weeks and I also bought a bridesmaid dress there for my best friend's wedding that came in less than 2 weeks.

HTH!

Re: David's Bridal Brides

First off, I did buy my dress at DB, and I bought at the Westbury location. I found them very helpful. I have not had the alterations yet, so I cant speak with my experience on that yet. However, luckily I hardly need any alterations done.

I definately believe you get what you pay for. Of course you are not going to get the quality of dresss you would get if you went to a bridal salon. I looked at a Demetrios dress at Macy's that was $2,500, I loved it! BUT, I didnt want to spend $2,500 on a dress. I would of loved to but I cant afford that. So, I found something comprable at DB for $925. My dress does have detailing but not the same quality of detailing that a $2,500 dress would. I dont expect it to.

My answer would be yes....DB does have a large selection, I believe you can find something you like there, as long as you have realistic expectations.

i think when you go dress shopping really depends on you. when i talked to the consultant at DB's I was told that dresses can get discontinued pretty quickly and replaced by newer designs. this happened with my dress and i had to make a decision to order asap. if you are flexible and do not have your heart set on a specific dress on the website then i say waiting till the fall of next year is fine...but if you actually have certain dresses in mind then i would say go sooner. my dress came in really fast (like 2 weeks). hth!

I bought my dress at the one in Lake Grove. I thought the service was great. I got an Oleg Cassini gown.
I haven't done alterations yet because it's way too soon.

I did get a bridesmaid dress there last year for my girlfriends wedding. I also had my alterations done on it there and it came out great. Really cute bridesmaid dress. Plus great service. and I got a discount on the bridesmaid dress and shoes because the bride bought her dress there.
