David's Bridal Brides

Original post by fkitty78

How are the dresses there? Do they have many to choose from? I am looking for a ball gown type dress or something similar to it with ruffles and stuff like that. I have heard from other people that some places are not nice to many brides., so that concerns me.

Re: David's Bridal Brides

I had a horrible experience with the one in Lake Grove this past May, My best friend the bride, and I was the maid of honor both got our dresses there. When she got her dress there was one person helping 5 other girls, so it was not a personal experience. We also got our alterations there, hers got messed up and had to take it somewhere else, all the bridemaid dresses were fine, but when we were outside taking pics on the wedding day, we notice they never cleaned up the chalk marks they used to hem, the photographer had to fix it all in the photos. Go to the one in massapeqa I herd they were better.

I went to the new one in Massapequa for my BM dresses and had a great experience there! Ask for Kathleen, she was so helpful.

I just came home with my dress from their. They have so many styles to choose from. The massapequa store was amazing. I would check them out!

Re: David's Bridal Brides

I got my dress at the DB in Middletown (I live upstate) but the lady who helped me was amazing. I had tried on about 7 or 8 dresses, and the last one I had tried on was 'THE ONE.' When I saw my self in the dress I got all emotional - when the lady asked me if there was something wrong, I told her no nothing wrong, that this was 'the dress' and she got all emtional for me too. She said it was the first time she's seen a bride get like that trying on dresses (what can I say, I'm a true softie!)

On the other hand - I would not & did not have David's do my alterations - only due to the fact that there pricing was not a 'fixed' amount and I had heard bad stories where brides paid anywhere from $300-$500 for alterations at David's.

I just needed a triple bustle done & brought it to a private seamstress in a dry cleaner where I have brought lots of other work before. She only charged me $75 for the triple bustle and the bustle buttons were Swarovski Crystals - I dont know where she found them - but the dress looked amazing!

I had gotten an Oleg Cassini gown- you can check pics on my profile if your interested.

Best of Luck & Congrats!

Re: David's Bridal Brides

I bought my dress at davids and i had a great experience. the dress that i wanted was discontinued so i traveled from eastern suffolk to yonkers. they wanted to sell me the floor model but it had a rip in it that we discovered just after i tried it on. they called all the warehouses they could until they found one with this dress all new and never been tried on! they mailed that dress to my house along with my slip and veil. they were very nice to me.

I worked with Sandy at the Lake Grove store many times for my dress and my mom's dress and she was fantastic. I just did my alterations at another place (Ingrid's in Setauket) so I had a great experience.
