Re: day of coordinator???
We're having one. I don't want ANYthing to be my problem, or anyone elses problem. I want my mom, my aunt, etc to be GUESTS not helpers. I even want my bridal party to relax during the ceremony, ch and reception..

I can't have a DOC because I am a meeting and event planner, so I would be harder on her. So to save anyone from my tongue I will do it myself.

MY MOH and I are teaming up to DOC my wedding. We both do event consulting and planning, and it would be safer for us to do it than to drive someone else nuts with it lol

That is so true. We know all the deadlines and the DOC would hate us because if she does one thing different than what we do in our everyday work, she would have to hear our mouth. lol. Sometimes being in the business goes make us a better client. lol.

Re: day of coordinator???
I need a DOC! I just want to know everything is going perfectly. I feel like as a nurse I am a DOC for other people everyday and on my wedding I want somebody to run around like crazy and make sure everything is flowing flawlessly.

08-er crashing...
If you are thinking about it and can afford it....TOTALLY DO IT.
We used Gina at Bleu Diamond Events and the *****************....
some things they helped with:
1) Limo broke down with the guys in it on the way to the church...she was on the phone right away to make sure another was sent ASAP...problem solved
2) Making sure church was set up DIY aisle runner ( which she cut and took to the reception under my cake)
3) transported church flower to the reception
4) We had rain...she was so helpful getting me and my girls in and out without getting soaked.
5) Our table numbers were placed wrong at the reception...we didnt even know about it until after when the problem was resolved.
6) Helped with the details of the reception...place cards, menus cake topper...ect.
7) maintained a time line so we could take pics and attend our CH and finished by the reception.
8) many other things....and the best part...Me and DH and our families got to enjoy the wedding and not worry about the details!
here are some pics if you want to see the details she helped with:
We didnt have one and were OK without it, but my mom did a lot of the pre-wedding stuff Denise talked about so I didn't feel the strain as much.
I also think it would have been nice to have someone else taking care of all of the details -- luckily my mom saw the florist totally screwed up and brought the wrong flowers, and it was able to be fixed, but if we had a DOC she would have noticed right away and taken care of it without having to stress my mom out. Also, DOC would have noticed that the florist forgot the petals for the aisle and we might have had them for the ceremony, and a few other small mishaps.
Overall, everything went pretty smoothly without having one -- I made a detailed list for the hall with instructions for how I wanted everything set up, the photographer made us a timeline for pictures, I had a bridal attendant from the hall (included) who got us drinks, took care of stuff, told us what time it was (we wanted to spend a certain amt of time in the bridal suite, and then go down to the second part of the CH), etc.
it depends on your budget, if you are adament about certain things being a certain way, and if you dont want to deal with things. in retrospect it might have been nice to have one, i think some things would have been fixed that werent, but it was by no means necessary.
