Re: day of coordinator???
I dont think so. None of my friends have had them...and they managed. I'd rather spend the money on something else.

Re: day of coordinator???
Yes, i already booked it. I did it mainly because i don't want to be bothered with anything the day of and don't want my mom or sister to have to handle anything for me either.

Re: day of coordinator???
a DOC would just drive me crazy. there is no way i am wasting money in such a way. i am super organized and will have itineries made up in advance. anyone who isn't where they are suppose to be misses out.

Noper. I have plenty of support between me, FH, my mother and SIL. We're good to go.

Re: day of coordinator???
its not something you HAVE to have, only if you feel you want to.
I wasnt sure at first but then decided to hire a DOC. I am glad i did, bc honestly i didnt want to be bothered with anything that day, if anything did go wrong i didnt want to deal with it and didnt want to know and didnt want my family or friends to deal with it either.
as far as what they do and how they can help, this was my experience.
I met with her about a month before the wedding. WE sat down and went over everything together. She made up a timeline for me that was perfect. She even put what time to start my hair, what time to start my make up, and also what time my MOH and mom would do those things. I was planning on starting it an hour later than she had done it which thank god i didnt. It was perfect and i had alot of time to relax and didnt have to rush at all, i even had time to just sit down and since i had time my photographer did a little session with me before i got dressed. She even timed how long to be outside after the church then time to location of pics and how long to take pics for. We followed the schedule and took pics for over 2 hours and got to the RH early and were able to relax before CH started. My whole day went very smooth, we didnt rush for anything. Even when we hit alot of traffic to the RH it was fine bc she gave us more than enough time to get to the RH after pics. I didnt rush to the church and was done early. We didnt rush through pics either, so the good thing is i didnt have to leave during reception to take pics, which ive seen many brides having to do this, even recently at a wedding i saw this happenening constantly
The morning of she came to my house around 11am. It was good bc she left before me to get to the church and florist had delivered things to my house that werent supposed to go to me, not their fault since all personal flowers went to me. But i had to give MIL's bok to her, flower girls kissing ball who wasnt at my house, rb's pillow, also had the basket at my house for programs and she took that too. ANother thing is that i gave one of our readers the reading they had to do but she was doing a reading together with someone else and this other person didnt have the reading and since it was being split between 2 people, she didnt know which verse she had to do, so i gave to doc the sheet with the verse she had to take with her to the church and give it to her. She also took my overnight back for hotel stay after and didnt have to take it with me in the limo. She got to the church early to make sure all the right flowers were delivered, and to help guys with their bouts. After the church one of my bm's bf got into an accident, i didnt know until we were taking pics but my DOC took her to meet up with her bf, he was fine, and then brought her to where we were taking pics. She also got to the RH early to make sure they were setting up everything right. She also brought my menu's to the RH since her employee designed them and did them for me which also helped since i was going to do them myself but ran out of time and she did them for me a few days before the wedding. She stood by placecard table to make sure everything went well, one card was missing and she had my list of every guests name at every table and was able to fix the problem. She also planned out the day at the RH, which things to do first and advised me as to how much time to make for speeches, first dance and all these things.
I know she also helped my girls with some things they needed. She even took everyones bags for them and took them to the RH and had them in the bridal suite.
I was lucky that nothing really went wrong, but if god forbid something does, you dont deal with it the DOC does, and they know how to handle the situation. Even small things such as a HUGE orange stain i got on the bodice of my dress from some flowers inside the church, so right after ceremony i had it and she took it right out, she had things on her specially for this.
People have had weddings without a DOC and its worked out just fine. I personally got one bc i had no desire to deal with anything that day, i just wanted to enjoy my day and didnt want to worry about details or how things were getting done.

like i said, a wedding will be fine without one. But if you dont want to deal with ANYTHING that day then its good

Re: day of coordinator???
After reading that now I want a DOC!!
Im considering it..if I have the money. I think it would be nice to have someone there. but like everything else, the biggest factor is money.

no its less than that, most are $500-600 like i posted above. The most ive seen one for is $750. So if anyone tries to charge $1k or more, know that there are MANY others out there who do it for less.
I used exquisite affairs, a former LIW bride started this company. She was even in the knot magazine for vendor of the year. They also have a design person who does invitations, menu's and other stuff. Its funny bc her wedding was one wedding i LOOOOVED on here, and it was bc of her wedding i choose my color scheme and when i found out she worked for exquisite affairs it was an added bonus

I am still undecided, my brother and sister in law had one and they loved it because they had nothing to worry about so I might, I really have not sat down and thought about it yet

Re: day of coordinator???
from day one i've always wanted a DOC. I understand why some people feel the need not to have one, but i think it will really ease my mind having one.
