I was thinking about getting FH a watch also BUT I got him one a few years ago and it wasn't exactly what he wanted (I was OK with this, I am super picky). My concern is that I want to give him a watch he loves but I want it to be a surprise. I am torn about what I am going to do or if I do get him one when to give it to him (maybe rehearsal dinner?).

FH loves watches but I am thinking of getting him music note cufflinks. He is a dj and music is a very important part of his life.

We are doing day of gifts too - I'm also probably getting him a nice watch and he may get me some wedding day jewelry. It won't be a surprise though since we want to make sure it is something the other person likes. I really like your first choice the best by the way fyi. A nice card in addition to the gift (or in lieu of) is a nice touch too!

I really like your first choice watch also! I was going to get FH a watch but I got him one for valentine's day when we first started dating. Instead I bought him two pairs of batman cufflinks (he is a superhero geek, one is for ceremony and the other flashier ones he can wear for reception) and a pair of polarized Maui Jim sunglasses since he saw them when we were in Maui last year but didn't want to buy them for himself.

Check overstock.com - they have some nice watches and run great discounts. I think that's how I am going to be able to swing a Movado!

Go to an independent Authorized Dealer rather than the Rolex store or Tourneau. A smaller AD will almost always knock between 8-10% off. Which could very well end up being $1,000+. Good luck!

I did a boudoir book for him and i'm also getting him cufflinks and maybe a personalized keychain.

macy's is a great place to get the watch. I bought FH a Bulova 2 christmases ago... It was originally like 500 dollars but i got a good price because of the Macy's card discount and he wears it all the time.

I got him a watch as a present. I got him a watch at Bloomingdales during friends and family. So it was 20% and then I opened up a bloomies amex and got an additional 20% plus 0 APR for a year.

I would check out the department stores.
