Day of the week

Original post by NovBride10

Which day of the week is everyone getting married? My FH and I started to look at RHs and I really don't think we can afford a Sat night. I was thinking maybe a Sunday night and FH would want a Friday night. Friday night is good bc people can stay later but they would probably also get there later. Sunday night I think people would leave early. Any suggestions????

We are doing a Thursday night. It is so much cheaper and I've found that vendors are willing to lower their prices since it isn't a popular day.

we are doing a THURSDAY night in July. Saturday was too expensive and many of our guests re teachers or are self employed. We gave people a year to know that it is a thursday so those who need to can take the day off and still have the weekend to themselves. Our guests said they preferred the thursday over a sunday. It would be easier to take off friday or muddle thru one day than to go thru a whole week. We are having our summer wedding at a spring time price.... THursday is getting very popular... price out the difference...

FH & I felt the same! Thursday night here too! & I just didn't want to sacrifice the month or time of year. We are very happy with our choice. We decided that the wedding is for us & those closest to us to share in our day. Those who want to be there will be. This way we cute the cost of the wedding almost in half. We can still take a nice honeymoon & have enough money to put a down payment on a house

As much as I wanted a Saturday night, in order to keep my date I had to do the day. At my hall it didn't matter night was night no matter what time of the year and it was out of my budget anyway so I loved the place and booked SATURDAY DAY wedding

We are having a Saturday night but our GL is small...I have gone to Sunday night weddings and stayed the entire time..IMO if you do a Fri night you need to make it later in order for most people (not family) to get there

We're also doing a Thursday night in the summer. I really wanted a summer wedding, but with the cost it was going to be very difficult to do it on a Saturday. It's amazing what a difference in cost a Thursday night is. Someone actually said to me, no one is going to remember the day you got married on, they're going to remember the event. One of the nicest & best things I have heard!

I am having a Sunday night wedding. The ceremony is at 6, cocktails start at 6:30 and the reception is from 7-11:30. If people leave early, they leave early but I know that my friends people close to me, and the party people will stay til' the end. I wanted my wedding to be a weekend thing so on Saturday I am going to have a picnic at the local park with the out of town family and my family to get everyone acquainted. I would also like to have a baseball game going on or some type of activity...(im not good at football so I think baseball would be the most fun). I plan on good food and loads of fun before the wedding.

We are doing a Saturday night for the simple fact that we got an awesome deal. 'Grand Opening' and winter package pricing... couldn't beat it!!

We are doing a Friday night. Ceremony starts at 6:30, then CH 7-8, then reception with VH 8 - 1am

ETA: I'd rather do a Friday than a Sunday just b/c I feel like I can let loose more...booze it up lol FH & I want a party atmosphere and I feel like Friday is a good party night (JMHO of course )

Totally agree with this. We did a Friday night. Our invite was for 7pm, bellini's upon arrival and cold canapes for the guests. Then ceremony at 7:30 pm. Even with Hamptons traffic no one was late. Friday night is SO much more of a party night, and IMO the perfect night for a wedding! Unless your Sunday night wedding falls the day before a Monday holiday. Then that would be easier to get people to stay, but you would have to do STD's because a lot of people go away for the same holidays every year. My vote is always for Friday night wedding. Good luck!

We are having a friday night wedding. We didnt even check prices for a sat because we always wanted a friday night. Something about an event on a friday night says grown and sexy :

Ceremoney @8pm and reception until 1:30pm

We're doing Sunday night, CH starts at 630pm. Our guest list wasn't going to be near large enough to book Saturday night and FH's family has a huge superstition about not making any important decisions or business deals on Friday so we were forbidden to get married on Friday LOL!

I haven't had one complaint about the wedding being on a Sunday night. I've spoken to people who had Sunday night weddings and they said no one left early. Many of our guests are from OOT so they'd be taking off Friday or Monday anyway and I know my close friends and family will just take the day off. If a few people need to leave early that's fine by me, the most important people to me will be there till the end. We're even having an after party for people staying at the castle, OOT's and anyone else who wants to hang out. I'm not worried about Sunday night.

I would def recommend going with a Fri night instead of Sun. Although, venues charge more for a Fri and Sat night, it's worth it for the convenience for families and guests. Another alternative is Sunday afternoon so your wedding ends in the early evening. One thing to keep in mind-people who have to work the next day (if they can not take off) will leave the reception earlier if your wedding ends later.

We are doing a Sunday afternoon in October. Our ceremony is a little after noon and everything will be all over by 7pm.

I agree with this too....I also think that more people would be willing to leave work early on a Friday afternoon than to go in late/take off on Monday
