Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding
I booked a Saturday night wedding because the price worked for us, but I was 100% planning on having a day wedding to cut costs. I just got lucky and was able to get a great price for a Sat. night. However, I must say, I was at my RH today during the day and we were saying how beautiful it looked during the day with all the windows looking out on the water...then I started wondering if I had made a mistake, but I think I am happy with my decision. :)

I pretty much had my heart set on a Saturday night wedding, but the BM at my RH said she had a Sunday night open for Memorial Day weekend and that they were charging Sunday prices! That was the only reason we booked a Sunday night!

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding
For me I dont mind a day wedding as long as it isnt mine. It is hard enough for me to get up and get ready for someone else but, I couldnt do it for mine. FH and I were talking about this yestarday going to TWOTY and we are glad we are doing a night time. Daytime is traditional so that is a reason why I like it but, night time is more for me. We were going to do a Friday night in March but, we are doing a Thursday night in August and it is alot cheaper then the Firday night!!! Damn I rambled!!

We picked a day wedding since we were going to be getting married on a Sunday and we didn't want our guest to be worrying about work the next day.

I want Saturday night. If we did a day wedding, when it was over I would feel like 'Okay, what do we do now?'

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding
We're having a day wedding for a variety of reasons, none of them being price (we could have afforded the night time price)
1. The minimum as far as people count was 100 more at night - we dont know or want anywhere near 240 people at our wedding
2. With the room we would have had at night we would have had to have the cocktail hour upstairs and Westbury Manor doesn't have an elevator so that would mean my grandma wouldnt have been able to go to cocktail hour
3. The gardens at WM are absolutely gorgeous and we wanted people to be able to enjoy them during the day when you can actually see everything.
TWOTY was a daytime wedding and people were having just as much fun during the day as they would at night. To say people won't drink or let lose is ridiculous, in my opinion.

Thats how I feel too. I also want people in gowns....its a black tie affair and I can't really do that in the daytime.

i like the idea of a nighttime wedding, just because that's when i normally let loose and have a great time. i've been to one daytime wedding where i had just as much fun, though! although someone else mentioned the 'what do we do now?' feeling that the daytime wedding might leave you with. good point!

That's funny... another reason I wanted day was because then people wouldnt have to wear gowns - I like getting dressed up but haaaaaaaaaate wearing a long gown.
As far as 'what do we do now' we're going to rent a few suites and keep partying. We're even playing around with the idea of getting a party bus and going out.

OMG hehehe I'm the total opposite....I always tell FH I wish I could just walk around at all times like I was going to the Oscars. I see all these pretty long gowns and I get so upset that there is nowhere to wear em. I'm one of those people that wears a full on outfit just to get a drink at 7-11.

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding
I always wanted my wedding day to last the whole day. Spend the morning getting ready with the girls, mid afternoon ceremony at the church, outdoor cocktail hour, and then an evening reception... I just want to make the most out of the entire day without having to rush and without the party ending too soon.
For example, my cousin had an 11am Sunday ceremony. I was a BM and we were up at 6am getting ready. Had no time for pics before the ceremony... then the reception was over by 5 and there was nothing planned afterwards.
But everyone's preferences are different...
ETA: I WISH I had MORE reasons to wear a long gown! I love them!

same exact reasoning for us too.. and the fact that the gardens are too beautiful to be wasted at night!

Oh absolutely Gina. It would be terrible for people to not be able to take advantage of the gardens at the Swan Club!
