Sat. night wedding for us!

I just wanted it to be as easy on us...so having the whole day to get ready and enjoy the day was what I wanted!

The only way I would do it is if I absolutely could not afford an evening wedding. The reasons for this are:

(1) I don't want to rush to get ready
(2) I want to sleep and relax
(3) My guests are big drinkers and dancers and the won't be as inclined to do this during the day.

We're having a day wedding, simply because our favorite meal is breakfast and we wanted a brunch buffet.

I've had a great time at day weddings and I've been bored beyond belief at evening weddings, so time of day doesn't matter to me.

Saturday night for us!

I just need the time to get ready. My cousin had a real early wedding and we had to wake up at 4am! I just can't do that to get ready. I didn't get to enjoy it because I was so tired. But daytime weddings are so beautiful I just can't get my lazy butt up!

I would have loved to do a evening wedding but it just was not in the budget. The price difference was a lot. I also want to get married outside and its October and well as soon as the sun starts to go down it tends to get a little chilly.

The place I am booking does not do Evening Ceremonies only because of the turn around from the event before.

I also have a lot of out of town guests so they could get an early start to go home on Sunday if they wanted.

I will probably have an after party at the hotel for people staying over.

We are having a day wedding, I really don't mind it. We plan on celebrating the rest of the night anyway.

Who is voting 'hate it' - I understand not preferring it but hate it is pretty harsh...

It depends on the wedding...

like, if you want one by the beach i would do day, if you have a nice view, day

but if it doesnt matter i would rather night...its more romantic to me :)

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

I've always wanted a night wedding, I always saw my wedding as a big party, almost club like, with everyone dancing the night away..

I also know that for me to have the kind of wedding I want with our budget, there are somethings we have to compromise on...

We can't afford a summer Saturday evening wedding, so we chose Thursday night, the day before a holiday. We have our evening wedding, our ceremony at the church is at 5, and our reception goes from 7-12. Its the month we wanted, our guests can party with out worrying about work the next day, and we saved 50% off our RH fees. Money I was able to use to buy the dress of my dreams... which I was not willing to compromise on..

You have to do what you have to do to make YOUR wedding happen. You are the only one who knows your budget and what you can afford. I think sometimes when we read about how other girls are doing there weddings, we can't help but start to feel a little bad if our places are not as nice, or we can't afford something that someone else has.

I think a day time wedding is a nice idea. There are so many things you can do to do to make it have that evening feel. My planner told me that she recently did a wedding during the day, where the girl used a ball room of a hotel that didn't have any windows, they used really cool up lighting and it created like this whole night time club feel in the middle of the day. She saved a boat load of money, and her pictures were fabulous.

Even doing it in a really sunny room or out in a garden is beautiful too...

Again its your wedding!! Do you!

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

ive always wanted a saturday night wedding just because it was convienant for myself and my guests. i am NOT a morning person at all. but i also really wanted a summer time wedding.. when i heard the price for a saturday night wedding during the summer it was ridiculous. but the friday night price worked out perfectly for us. in the end i had the choice between a saturday night in november or a friday night in august. i choose the friday in august because all my extended family has already asked for the date to request off work so im not worried about anyone missing our afternoon ceremony or even our cocktail hour at 7. it will be just like a saturday night since no one will be working the next day. so in the end im almost having my saturday night wedding.. just for a lot less.
