We picked a day wedding since we were going to be getting married on a Sunday and we didn't want our guest to be worrying about work the next day.

same exact reasoning for us too.. and the fact that the gardens are too beautiful to be wasted at night!

Oh absolutely Gina. It would be terrible for people to not be able to take advantage of the gardens at the Swan Club!

same for you hunni!!!!! they woulda been my other choice for a garden wedding

So funny - yours was my other choice!

it is from 5-10 (in the summer) so it will start off during daylight but will go into nighttime, and we are right on the water and will have the sunset and everything :)

Personally I would never have a day wedding, In fact I wouldn't have anything other than a Saturday night wedding but that is just my opinion.

its alright for everyone to express their opinion but this comes off as sorta harsh... any reasoning behind this? b/c this statement may make some of us daytime/thus-fri-sun wedding gurls feel bad..

see and im the opposite, i would never have a saturday night wedding bc i cant see paying up to double the price (which i got quoted on at some RH) when I don't have to...no offense to girls who are having sat night weddings, we just want to be able to put a down payment on a house and everything and are trying to keep the cost of this wedding down...i see absolutely nothing wrong with a wedding on a day other than a sat night, and if other people do, well then they dont have to come lol

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

I love the idea of a day wedding. I want my RH to have windows so there will be a beautiful view, and I want to be able to take pictures outside. I am really drawn to Timber Point. The room looked so beautiful when I went during the day.

However, we are having an issue with the church times (i mentioned this in another thread). It's the only thing FH wants so if that means a night wedding, I will try to accommodate this one thing for him. I just we'll be able to afford an evening wedding!

It wasn't meant to sound harsh so I appologize if thats how you took it. It's a poll; so all I said was that IMO I would not have a day wedding. There is nothing wrong with it but I always wanted to have a Saturday night wedding. My family and friends work and I know the only way I could expect them all to have fun, relax and enjoy themselves is if I did it then.

No one should feel bad about their wedding. It's their wedding and no matter when it is or where it is it will be AMAZING.

At the end of the day it's not about the wedding it's about the person you are marrying, right?

Oh okay....I guess I'm kinda having that too then . Mine starts at 5:30 and goes until 1am. But in August the sun doesn't go down till like 7 - 7:30pm so for all of the ceremony and cocktail hour on the golf course I'll have daylight.

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

I like saturday nights. I love formal wear and also I wanted to have a long break for pictures between my mass and reception and not have to be up too early. Almost all my friends and family have been married on Saturday nights so it is just what I am use to. Old habits I guess. I have been to one or two day weddings and although I initially was not too excited - they were great weddings and hosted at places where daylight really was a plus. Though I must say sometimes when I think about how much I am paying I think I should have maybe gone for a day wedding!

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

We're doing a Sunday afternoon wedding + afterparty. I'm Jewish so Fri night and Saturday till Sundown were out. If we went with Saturday night the ceremony would have to start after sundown (and we wanted Aug, so that would mean 8pm+ STARTING TIME!)

I love love love daylight and windows, and starting at 8pm+ would have eliminated that so we went with Sunday afternoon. I picked a hall with lots of windows and we can have our CH outside!

I was also afraid Sunday night would be hard for our guests since we have a lot of OOTers, so an afternoon wedding lets those who need to fly/drive home Sunday night, or people can stay for our afterparty and go home Monday (which most are doing).

Even though we're an afternoon wedding we're still doing pix before because I don't want to miss my CH (or make FH and his family miss it -- they are all OOTers and have never been to a NY wedding) and I *definitely* didn't want a gap between the ceremony and reception because it's really really really inconvenient for our guests and I think it breaks the flow of things.

We all have our own preferences which makes the world go round and lets us get the halls dates and times we want

I always wanted a sat night wedding because I hate getting up early, but when I heard the price difference I changed my mind very quickly about having a sun. afternoon wedding.

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

we wanted a night wedding, and like someone else said, i wanted the wedding to last the whole day for us.....TWOTY was during the day and it was so much fun - we drank and danced just like it was at night.....

we are having a fri night wedding in december - b/c we love the holidays! the saturday we wanted was booked already - but of course the price on friday night was better.....we decided to do a friday in december vs a saturday in january......

i think twilight summer weddings are really nice - especially at a RH with nice outdoor areas! that would be my second choice for a wedding!

Re: Day vs. Evening Wedding

Thanks for all the thoughts...

I have two options which will be decided both on price and food.

Swan Club in the evening or Beckwith Pointe in the afternoon.

I am going to go to SC and see how the food is at their showcase and then see if I can get a better price.

I think either way the wedding will be great!!!
