To be totally honest...a daytime wedding to me and most people I know means less of a party atmosphere, which usually means less dancing. People have to think about what they're doing after the wedding, it's not like it's their one commitment for the day or evening when they're done at 5pm and then still have to figure out what they're doing for dinner or for the rest of their night. If you and your fiance prefer day time, then leave it as is, but I wouldn't expect a day time wedding to be as much of a fun wedding as a night time wedding.

I think a big aspect is that what usually makes something a great party atmosphere is if the liquor is flowing, and I just don't know how much people feel like drinking in the afternoon. A drink or two, maybe, but no one is really letting loose at 2PM. If you and your FH have your heart set on day time, then go for it! But it won't be a real wild and crazy party.

i really think it depends on the crowd. I was just at 2 evening weddings and at one of them there was like no one dancing. then i've been too daytime weddings where the floor is packed. if you have a good mc who will keep your guests up and moving i think you'll be fine.

I'm not personally a fan of daytime weddings, for many of the reasons listed above, drinking during the day, figuring out what to do after, etc. That being said, if you have the right DJ to sets the party atmosphere, then you'll have an awesome party. My cousin had a daytime wedding last year and we all ended up having a really good time. I wouldn't say the dance floor was packed, but it was still a good time.

Thanks ladies. I appreciate your candid responses and suggestions. I guess we will just be on a hunt for an awesome DJ and make that top priority.

I'm having a daytime wedding cause of cost and I have been to both day time and night time. Honestly the last 2 night weddings I have been too I have never spent so much time at my table at a wedding before. It really comes down to the DJ and the vibe. I have been to day time weddings where everyone was on the dance floor having a great time. We plan on going into it with a positive attitude, we know our DJ will do a great job. All our friends are excited for our wedding so I wouldn't stress about it.

I pretty much agree with everyone else's responses. I also sometimes feel that the venue can play a role. If there's tons of windows and the sun is shining and the room is brightly lit, that May damper the party mode. I went to a wedding once that started round noon. The room was dark and you would gave thought it was midnight. The party was going strong. Soooo, I think all aspects play a role, dj, venue, crowd, alcohol. If you guys want a daytime wedding than def go for it!! I'm sure it will be a blast and if the party poopers wanna sit in their chairs, let them ;)

If your friends and family are partiers and dancers, it won't matter what time of the day it is. I've been to day weddings and partied just as much as an evening wedding. HTH

I am having a daytime wedding and I was pretty hesitant about it at first because we like to party and so do our friends. Most of our relatives are from out of town so they aren't worrying about what time it is or about transportation (in terms of drinking). Our friends are ready to party no matter the time or the day. It really just depends on if you have fun people attending and if the music is pumping. I don't understand why people always put down daytime weddings. Maybe there is a reason why the couple HAS to have it during the day which is our situation. It is YOUR day and it is going to be awesome regardless of what other peopl think.

I have been in the wedding business for over 25 years. No matter what day of the week or time of day, people that drink will drink and people that dance will dance. To be honest I have heard many people say they would rather be at a Saturday or Sunday day wedding then a Friday night wedding. There will always be someone to complain about something so don't worry about pleasing everyone. Just do what makes you happy... it's your day!!

I'm having a daytime wedding (2-5:30) for costs as well as having a nice backdrop for my wedding. I have quite a few elderly folk (13!) and non-dancers at my wedding, so it actually would have served no purpose to push for night time! However, I know people will dance and have fun listening to music. I think it all depends on the setting and what they as well you expect as for the wedding. Since mine is an endless cocktail hour, that already implies alcohol and festivities!
Re: Daytime wedding...dancing issue?
i think thats a ridiculous statement. my first wedding was at 11:30am and ended at 5pm. people danced the WHOLE time! it's a wedding! as long as your dj is good people will dance. i don't understand why people wouldn't dance because its during the day??

Re: Daytime wedding...dancing issue?
I had a day wedding (12-5) and people were dancing the entire time. We chose a day wedding because we wanted people to enjoy the backdrop of the reception and we did not want to guarantee the minimum for a sat night and did not want to deal with friday night traffic in long island. We spent a little extra on music and had an after party at our hotel. People are still talking about how amazing it was and how much fun they had. We are all in the medical field so the people that did have to work were grateful they did not get home at 1am. HTH!
