Deal reached on tax rebates...see if it benefits you

here is one small part of it

Under the tentative plan, families with children would receive an additional $300 per child, subject to an overall cap of perhaps $1,200, according to a senior House aide who outlined the deal on condition of anonymity in advance of formal adoption of the whole package. Rebates would go to people earning below a certain income cap, likely individuals earning $75,000 or less and couples with incomes of $150,000 or less.

It is supposed to go into effect for our rebates now, we should see them when we get our checks back

I am going to be screwed this year. I get health insurance for FH but bc we're not married yet, I am getting heavily taxed on it (like $2500)! The government penalizes unmarried couples bc they are trying to penalize gay and lesbian couples (which is so unfair).

Unfortunately I can't claim him as a dependent bc we are not married, yet I am still getting taxed on him. It makes me so mad!!!!!!!!!! It was important for him to have insurance and I don't regret adding him on, I just think it's unfair that they are recognizing our relationship enough to penalize me but not enough for it to benefit me! Grrrrrr.....

Well I don't make 75K or 85K so can I get back more money?!?! lol

Since we aren't married yet our incomes aren't combined so we would still be individuals...i think that means we are good for the rebate, god I am lost when it comes to this stuff!

you will both get your own tax return $ PLUS you will both get a $600 check in your mail one day due to this deal!!!

it would be too hard to do it that way
especially for people that either:
1. lived in more than one state during the year
2. earned income from one state and lived in another

oh i earn income in one state but live in another lol. I don't know, i just NEED to get somewhat of a decent amount back this time, both FH and I, it really will help

me too, i work in NJ....i hope i get the $600 this year.....its not alot but anything helps with the wedding expenses.....it could pay for my alterations or something like that......

So when are we getting this check?

did I see June somewhere in the article? We are hoping to move this summer and that would be PERFECT, an extra 1200 for us for moving expenses, decorations for the apt, etc... I will certainly use my money to help the economy, I am very good at spending

From the yahoo article:

The rebates, expected to go out in June, would cost about $100 billion, aides said. The package also includes close to $50 billion in business tax cuts.

YOU JUNE AND JULY BRIDES ARE SOOOO LUCKY !!!!!!!!!

i hear ya
i usually get a decent amount but i did my taxes already for this year
its decent but less than the last few years

see thats what i was wondering about, some did their taxes already so its not fair if it goes into effect now...ALTHOUGh like they're concerned about being fair. I dont think i'll get too effected, i am more concerned about FH and his job didn't even give them their W2 forms yet

Co's have until Jan 31 to give out the forms - my company waits until the last possible day to do it, might because the need the month to get them all together ....
