As much as i try to sympathize with your unforeseen circumstances, we are out over 800.00 for your failure to attend as you responded....
The least you can do is send us a gift or call to wish us the best!!!!
Edited to say....I COULD HAVE HAD A DOC with that money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i know this is not the polite thing to do but i often find that the polite thing to do makes you a doormat sometimes...
i'm tempted to send a thank you card to the 1 guest who didn't show up at my wedding. I'm tempted to tell her thanks for not showing up, calling, or sending a congrats card and tell her how rude that was.
(i don't think people should get away with this sort of thing because it's not right).
Excellent idea! I can't believe people do this sort of thing, no phonecall, no card, no nothing!!!

Re: Dear the 6 guests, who were last minute cancellations...
we had 12 no shows!!! 2 of them called, death in the family, obviously good reason.. another 2 called, ********, she forgot it was her god daughters sweet 16..she thought it was the nite before..very smart. we had two others that during that afternoon he broke his arm playing softball...even thats ok i guess, although if you were at my ceremony you woulda saved yourself, moron... then the last 6 people, i will probably never speak to ever again..so rude.. 2 my friends parents, when i asked her 'how could they not call me?'..she had no answer.. and 4 of pauls coworkers from his last job, who DEFINATELY couldnt wait to see us, according to them the week before!! ugh obviously im still bent a month and a half later, ive received a gift from 1 of those couples! unbelievable! westbury manor did give me the food to go home with a week ago, i brought it to my mothers for my stepfathers birthday ;)...expensive birthday present!!

i had 3 no shows and 3 that RSVP'd with dates and then ended up coming solo! the 3 that rsvp'd with dates i was okay with cause they 'covered' them in the card and had good excuses. 2 of the 3 others were in the hospital so i couldnt get made there either. so i guess it was just one who didnt show and i never got a call or a card or anything! i think its just plain rude!!!

No card, no phone call, nothing, I have not heard from them... worse things happened at our wedding though, someone stole a pile of cards out of the card box, so we had to call everyone we did not recieve a gift from and ask if they stiffed us, or if theirs was stolen...that made for an interesting evening...dont get me wrong my wedding was absolutely amazing, the best day of my life and definately the most fun wedding I have ever been to

It stinks, we had cancellations the week of our wedding also. To think all that money that is lost, some people just don't have a clue

Cancelations truly are part of the wedding process. As I mentioned before, my caterer gave us 6 no-shows. He also told us that generally you get 10 cancelations the week of, so he let us give a final count two days before. That ended up being true. It makes sense anyway. The more people you are dealing with, the more problems there will be.

Wow. More halls should be like your caterer! We had four no-shows, though. An aunt and cousin (whom I was worried would actually bring extra people!) ended up not traveling to the wedding, and the other two no-shows were the 'and guests' who decided not to bring their dates....

I know how you feel. We had 8 guests not show at the last minute. One couple came to the church and decided, 'nah, let's not go to the reception. Let's go someplace else'
I could have had suites on my honeymoon, 13 more pina coladas, the stuart wietzman shoes I wanted. So freaking aggravating

ugh!! so annoying! we had 4 that came to the ceremony, not to the reception it was DHs aunt and uncle, and their 2 kids... they drove about 5 hours from western PA, came to the ceremony, but not the reception- apparently they got lost coming in the night before and were tired from driving around so they headed home after the ceremony. you would think they would have at least come to eat something!! nope! instead, they cost us $400!

Um.....Are these the same people!?!?!?!?!?!? The couple that came to my ceremony was also for PA, they were quote unquote, tired of getting lost so drove home instead. MIND you they had every possible configuarition of the direction AND I HAD SHUTTLE SERVICE.

Re: Dear the 6 guests, who were last minute cancellations...
We had 13 no shows, and while 7 of them had legit excuses (family emergencies) and they all did give us a card or gift, of the 6 others, 2 were guests of people who ended up coming stag, and the other 4 never even called us or gave any explanation until WE CALLED THEM!!!!
You know I got married, the least you can do is take 2 minutes out to make a freaking phone call explaining yourself.
The best one was my friend who said she emailed my friend to say she couldn't make it. Ummm, why didn't you email ME instead??!!

I had 8 no shows (4 couples) out of a 100 person guest list - one couple did have a medical emergency and sent a gift. The other three couples - no phone call or communication to us before or after, and no card even acknowledging our marriage.
Some people just have no manners.
