Hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but I do support McCain (fair disclosure :) and I think what he is trying to say is when these soldiers come home, have jobs for them and they can work towards certification. For instance,at Catholic schools, you don't need the same qualifications you need in the public school system initially but you need to working toward them. I honestly think his ideas was a noble one - not to take any qualified teachers job away - but to allow some people who have had some really incredible life experiences enter the work force in a job where they can make a difference.
I guess you are not a teacher. If they are competent enough to enter the classroom, passing the certifcation exam should be no problem! I wouldn't want someone teaching my children if they do not have BASIC knowledge of the subject they are teaching. Would you?
Many professions have certification tests including electricians, plumbers, cosmotologists, lawyers and doctors. Should these military personal be entitled to those positions as well without passing the certification exams?
McCain loves deregulaton.

totally agree with you...i think it is absurd to think that just because someone has lots of life experience that they will be able to teach. Just because I have had life experience doesnt mean that I will be a good doctor or lawyer. WHy not set up programs for them to take courses necessary in order to become good teachers? DOn't just put them in a classroom..
