Re: Debate Poll

my opinion hasn't changed

kerry is not the man to lead us

not saying i agree 100% with bush but at least i know he doesn't back down to public pressure

kerry's all about amending his position to be in line with popular opinion

bush had his number on this last night

i'll be surpirsed if kerry wins

IMO

I don;t believe Kerry shifts to suit public opinion. I believe Bush willl never changed even when faced with new info..and THAT scares me. Any psychologst cna tell you that only CHILDREN see the world in black and white

Re: Debate Poll

once you make a decision you have to stick with it

bush had kerry's number, kerry admitted that sadaam was a threat until people started opposing the war

now, it's a 'mistake'

Re: Debate Poll

I am voting for Kerry. And although I think Dean or McCain would make a better President, I think Kerry would be better than Bush.

I think 'sticking to your guns' in the face of alternate information is a character flaw.

I think that Kerry changes his opinion based on what he is learning- the world is constantly evolving- and so should our opinion of how to deal with the World and our enemies. It was Bush that made Kerry out to be this flip flopper- because that was the only way he could win-

American people are ignorant- they don't read the paper and they don't understand the politcal process- they don't understand that a vote against something in Congress isn't necessarily about the core issue- there are typically riders to bills or there may be issues how something is going to be paid for.

for example- just because a republican in the Senate votes against school lunches or against increasing minimum wage doesn't mean they are against children or people at McDonald's- it often times means that there isn't a provision in the bill, or they don't agree with the provision in the bill, on how to pay for the services.

That is why Kerry voted against funding the war- b/c there was no mention of how we were paying for this- and he was sort of saying... um- lets pay for it- but lets figure out how to pay for it. Makes sense to me. That isn't flip flopping.

Re: Debate Poll

What's your motivation whent he President says mission accomplished and every day one of your buddies gets his head blown up.

Obviously no one, not even John Kerry, thinks we should pull out of Iraw now- but we do need to recognize what we've done, how to fix it, and how to have a success and exit strategy, which Bush doesn't have.

When you are the CEO of a company and you aren't being profitable, you shift your resources and your workers and you try to be profitable.

The troops aren't being successful under Bush- we need to shift our focus and change plans to be successful- I think that shows a strong commander-in-chief that wants to minimize risks (and save lives)....

Would you rather be lied to and told that you're doing something just when you aren't? I think it takes a stronger person to say 'I was wrong'. Anyone can just stick with what they always believe, but that's what children and ignorant people do.

Bush laid out his exit strategy last night

as soon as Iraq is in a position to defned themselves, we start withdrawing troops

Since John Kerry isn't the president, yet, he has every right to call George Bush on his decision to invade Iraq. (John Kerry voted to authorize the use of force, if necessary) He did not authtorize Bush to go in without a plan to 'win the peace'.

It seems that the whole coutnry is aware of the mistake we are involved in over there. Military personnel should know that they were used by the Bush administration to push their oil agenda. I am VERY SUPPORTIVE of our troops no matter where in the world they are. They put their lives on the line to keep our country safe. However, when they are used as pawns in a larger political scheme, they should be aware.

JMHO I don't say this to ruffle any feathers...and am just as concerned about soldier morale, and safety as anyone.

that's not a strategy... that is just a little simplistic...

Then we'll be there for many, many years- considering the Iraqi police department are like THE main targets of the suicide bombers.

There's going to be a civil war there- and the country is going to break up into Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites... it's obvious that Iraq is already on its way down that path... and then our American soldiers will be there for a VERY long time.

Re: Debate Poll

Especially as Vietnam vet, I don't think that kerry, as president, would tell the soliderss 'you're fighitng the wrng war.' I think he'd support the troops and try to make the best of a abd situation. I completely disagree with the US invasion of Iraq, but now that the damage is done, those troops are there for a reason and they do need to stay there protecting people. No one is saying that what they're doing is not important. And no one has ever faulted the troops. I believe it is actually being on the side of the troops if you want to make sure their lives are only in danger if absolutely neccessary.

I'm sorry Bush and Rove put the mind meld on you- we should get you to some type of support group so you can 'see the light'....

But I do think that Saddam should've been taken out- but I don't think this fast, and I don't think in the way we did it- b/c it's making more trouble than benefits.

Re: Debate Poll

If we're going to go around the world taking out dictators, I don't think Iraq was the place to start. ALSO the US is actually more famous for INSTALLING dictatorsa nd overthrowing legitimate democratically elected governments (Latin america), soo...

Re: Debate Poll

here's how i see it

after 9/11 hussein openly endorsed bin laden and what had happened

al qaeda and the terrorist groups had to be getting funding from somewhere and i highly doubt iraq wasn't funding them.

The proof of my statement is what Bush said last night. That all these terrorist groups are going to Iraq to resist the invasion. Why? Because there goes a major source of money when we win.

Afghanistan was just a pawn. When you slay a dragon, you cut off the head.
