No, I'm afraid not, Heather. My Husband is 11 yrs. older than I, and left the Amish, yrs. before I knew him. Mary MOB

His family still speaks to him but follow shunning rules, some of which are:
An Amish person may not give or receive money or gifts from my Husband's hand. The money/gift would be placed on a table, for instance, and would be retrieved either by my Husband or the Amish person.
My Husband may not sit at the same table to eat a meal with an Amish person.

There was a show on a few years ago, called amish and the city...i loved that show, this is something that really fascinates me as well.
Does your husband visit his family at all?
How old was he when he left?
Why did he decide to leave?

Yes, Nicole, he still visits them; My Husband was one of 11 children. As a matter of fact, today, he visited some of his Brothers and Sister, who are still single, and probably will never marry at this point. My Husband had another Brother, who passed away several weeks ago, who had also lived with the two unmarried Brothers and Sister. While the Amish wear black and dark colors, during their lifetime, when they are laid in their coffins, which are very 'Little House on the Prairie' style, very plain wooden boxes, they are then dressed totally in white. Their religious services whether funeral, wedding, or regular church services are in German, and are very long!! I was kinda shocked tonight when my Husband returned from his visit, and told me all of his deceased Brother's worldly possessions are in a room, with exception of his horse and buggy, etc.,which would be outside, and will be auctioned off!! Auctioning his clothes off didn't make sense to me!! My Husband was in his 20's when he left, and he was asked to leave by his Dad, when my Husband's theological differences, made him see that wearing whatever clothes, driving a car, etc., etc. wouldn't keep him out of Heaven. Of course these new thoughts didn't sit well with his Amish preacher Dad, who thought his youngest Son, would be tempted to turn from Amish traditions. Mary MOB
