December '09 / January '10 / February '10 Reception Hall Prices...
Hello everyone. New to this website!!! But seems like there is loads of info on this site!!!
I am looking for a reception hall location for a winter wedding, but my fiance and I will be paying for the entire thing... and so we are on a limited budget!
Just wondering what were some of the prices that everyone has heard for Dec. 2009, Jan. 2010 and Feb. 2010.
The places that I have gone to so far have all been over $110pp, but some of the threads online tell a different story!
Help!!!!!!! Thanks! <3 - Winter Bride in Need of Much Help!

welcome and congrats on your engagement!!
Fh and I are also paying for everything ourselves...the price quotes i got for january-march 2010 ranged from $53 pp++ to 135/145 pp++ it all really depends on the type of place you are looking for and what day (fri/sat/sun) you wanted.

well since you are on a budget i would say the January, February months will be the best because they are considered 'off peak' you will find really great prices pretty much in every hall...for december it could be iffy because its around the holidays i don't know if they would charge more than the off peak months but you can check out....
try:
Fox Hollow Chateau Briand Sans Soucci (i heard they have a wedding package that includes flowers and other extras) Jericho Terrace Westbury Manor North Ritz Club
there are many more you can pretty much play around with any hall when choosing a winter month!! good luck

Thanks you guys... you're all soo nice! Has anyone received prices from these caterers for these off season months?
New Hyde Park Inn Floral Park Sand Castle Metropolitan
I haven't gone yet, but I want to have a ball park $ amount of how much they charge. Bc if it's too much then I don't want to go and have my heart broken!

For a winter wedding I was getting quotes between 59 PP (what we are paying) and 100 per person for Friday or Sundays, but we are getting married MLK weekend

A friend of mine went to New Hyde Park Inn, Floral Park, Sand Castle, and Metropolitan -- and they all were 120+! But I don't know if she negotiated enough!
A couple of them only have one event at a time so does that increase the price... a cous of mine says it's nice to have it at a place that only has one event at a time... but do the prices change?
Has anyone checked these out?
If so, let me know!!!
Thanks a million!!!!! <3

when i was looking, I went to a number of halls that had multiple weddings that were around 60-75 per person, and the one I went to with 1 wedding at a time was 100.
I did not check out any of the halls you are mentioning, I have heard that its nice to have the hall to yourself, but a lot of the halls have it coordinated so that the brides dont see each other the day of, the guests may, but there may be less of a chance with that with a Winter wedding. I have more heard it during the peak wedding season, not so much with Dec Jan and February.
That surprises me with the Metropolitan, I thought they were one of the all inclusive for a set amount deals.

I don't still have my paperwork for there, but i know someone that is getting married there and it included everything that they are getting. Cocktail hour, Reception, and included Vienese and they now do one wedding at a time
not sure what the eye roll was all about

Dec 09 is the same price as prime, I have no idea why but i originally wanted nov/dec and dec was the same price, i think its bc of the competition with holiday parties and corporate functions.
jan is a bit lower, but i found that feb and mar were the cheapest. It will be hard to find a saturday evening in jan under $110pp but its do-able, definitely. i think if you did a friday night, you would definitely come in way under. don't forget to add in the tax and tip into the prices, it goes up quite a bit.

Sorry didn't mean the eye roll in a bad way... I am dying to know how much Sand Castle and Floral Terrace are going for because I have heard people rave about them! It was more meant as I am curious to find out more! Sorry about that. I am new to this... didn't realize it would go the wrong way. I now feel like such a smuck!

Trust me, my feelings were not hurt, i'm not that type of person. I was just wondering where it was coming from, thanks for apologizing. I hear that Floral Terrace is really nice, never went to see it, but thats what i've heard.

I wish i could remember, but i don't. I checked it out this time last year. I would just call them and see if you could get information over the phone.

No worries... thanks for the info though. It's very helpful to know general dollar amounts... I will make an appointment to check everything out soon (unfortunately no RH gives prices over the phone)... but most likely after the holidays.
Anyone else have heard of any prices for Floral terrace, Sand castle, New Hyde Park Inn or Metropolitan? Especially in the winter months with seafood at cocktail hour?

congratulations!!
i can't offer much help because i didn't look at those months. but i do think that a place that has only 1 wedding at a time will be more expensive. also saturday is usually the most expensive day. so maybe you can go with a friday or sunday night or a sunday day time.
