December 7th wedding

If someone is having their wedding this December 7, when are the invitations supposed to go out. The reason I am asking is because my FI mother just told me that one of his 3rd cousins asked for our address. I happen to think we are B list people and I am so mad right now. We do not even know these people and now I am going to have to invite them.

Re: December 7th wedding

The invitaions usually go our at least 8 weeks before the wedding date.

Edit to Say: I would def be mad if I knew I was on the B-list.

Re: December 7th wedding

Well, either you're a B list person, or they are extememly disorganized.
Why does that automatically mean you have to invite them anyway?
Decline on the invitation, then either don't invite them to yours, or put them on your B list also, and only invite if you have extra space.
Hope this hleps

Re: December 7th wedding

I would love not to go, but my FMIL already said to me, 'I know it is another expense but you can't say no'. Can you believe the nerve of her. I am so mad right now. Besides I have plans that day with friends that were made in July.

Re: December 7th wedding

You don't have to invite them! There are some people that my parents invited to my brothers wedding a couple of years ago (family friends) but we are not inviting them to my wedding. We still keep in touch with these people, but I wanted a small wedding (about 90-100 people), so we just couldn't invite everyone. It kind of goes along with the whole 'well, I was in her wedding, so I have to ask her to be in my wedding'....not true. Do what you want and don't worry about what others will say/think.

Re: December 7th wedding

Guess you'd be able to tell if you were on the B list by:

1. The RSVP date has passed or is within a few days of receiving the invite.
2. I'd ask your FMIL if she got her invite yet...and when!

It's also possible that she didn't plan on inviting you and realized she should have ...

I definitely don't think you have to go - however it's really up to your fiance...it's his family

Re: December 7th wedding

Thanks so much for your support. I am just really anooyed, I guess at my FMIL. Anything that has to do with family, she thinks we can NEVER say NO. Just like her wanting me to have 4 year olds at my Saturday night wedding and telling me they have to be invited.

Re: December 7th wedding

I wouldn't be insulted about being on the b list for the wedding of a third cousin you don't know. But I would be mad to be told I have to go. I hope it works out for you. That would stink to be forced to cancel long standing plans because of this.
