December Brides - Pictures?

Ladies who got married or are getting married in December --

When you planned for your pictures, did you make sure to have pictures taken before sunset, or was it not that big of a deal to you?

I just looked up sunset for the 21st and it will be 4:39…and our ceremony isn't until 8. We're doing all of our pictures beforehand, but should we start them reallllly early just to capture the sunset? Or be satisfied with indoor pictures, and pictures in the outdoor lighting at Fox Hollow?

Once upon a time I thought all of my to-do list was done….everyday I get closer is another day I find more stuff to worry about!

We are getting married 12/13/14 and we pretty much timed everything around the sunset time is at 4:26. Our ceremony is at 4 and its seriously going be like... 15 minutes long. We are doing photos earlier with a reveal and everything. Then after the ceremony FH and I will sneak out for a few sunset pics and then enjoy our cocktail hour!

ahhh lucky! Fox Hollow's times for weddings are either 12:30 (which we actually originally had the first time we planned) or 8pm ceremonies. It's making this so difficult because I wouldn't mind taking everything early….but let's be real, I'm a klutz and if I sit around killing time before the ceremony I WILL become a hot mess! :P

why don't you start at 4? gives you some daylight... the sunset and then you'll be done by 7 and can relax (safely) in your bridal suite!

Does it take 3 hours for pictures?? That's the other thing I'm worried about, the picture timeline….but I guess even if I'm not, I can hide out and my girls can cover me with plastic sheets haha. Good idea!

I'm actually a February bride (Fox Hollow), but the sunset time is pretty similar. Our ceremony is at 8pm. I know I'm totally in the minority, but I just can't envision Tony seeing me at any point before I walk down that aisle. So, 'reveal pics' are out of the question. Looks like bride/groom pics and full wedding party pics are going to be an evening only event for us....

We actually started out think we wouldn't be doing first looks, but we have a lot of elderly close family and young nieces and nephews who won't be making it passed the actual ceremony (my nephew won't be there at all). It was more important to us to have pictures with the people we love, but we're following some of the tradition - once we end the dinner the night before, I won't see FH at all until we do the 1st look on the day of. It's enough for us.

that's a nice compromise, since u have many too young and/or too up in years to stay the duration. My grandparents are in their 80's, but they're partiers ;) and no really young ones either...my jr bm is the youngest. I may do the same if my guest list varied in ages like yours. Im totally kicking the groom to be out of our apt the night before.....off to his parents he goes!

From what my photographer told me... 3 hours seems to be the norm. It probably depends on how big and 'organized' your bridal party and family are.

My FH is in a wedding tomorrow and he needs to be dressed and ready by 12:30 for a 6:30 ceremony and I couldn't figure out why so early until the bride said it was so they could do the pictures while it's light out. So just start extra early! Even if you did 2:00 you would have a few hours before sun down

We re having a January wedding so will come across the same issue. I think the sun sets at like 4:50 that night. Originally this was a HUGE deal for me... but I have spoken to other brides and seen pics from winter pm weddings and honestly, its not a big deal to me any more. I think we are doing the reveal at 4ish so we will get some daylight/sunset pics in there and obviously getting ready and BP only will be daylight. There are some beautiful night time pictures though. Plus, your photographer does this all the time, I feel like you just have to put your trust in them since this is what they do and no matter what your pictures will be beautiful :)

My venue has white lights everywhere in the winter - its absolutely GORGEOUS so I'm ok with night time :)
