Thanks everyone for your HONEST opinions, I certainly appreciate it. I have the type of personality that over-reacts immediately then calms down and understands the reasonable side. FH and I were supposed to go drop off more money APril 1st. When we go I will talk to them in person adn tell them that we would like to forego the appetizer tasting and then taste 2 chicken entrees, 2 veal and 2 seafood.

I will also do some searching around on this website and the 2007 boards to get some opinions on food choices.

thats nice that he is willing to offer you some kind of tasting!

our hall offers tastings, but not a sit-down try everything on the menu type of tasting. we are coming in on a day they are having a wedding, and they will bring us the CH food and the entrees that are being prepared that night.

09ner crashing....I have to put my 2 cents here and say that I think when you go on April 1st, you need to express ALL of your feelings to make sure you are 100% happy.

And unlike some of the other posts I would most certainly cancel my reception hall if someone was rude to me, they didn't let me taste the food, or they lied (or left out certain information) about something. I'm not putting close to $20k into a place for them to give ME a hard time. If this is how they are with you now (and thats the owner) I can't imagine how the other workers there are with you on your wedding day.


I also have a problem with this issue b/c it wasn't like a banquet manager was rude to you IT WAS THE OWNER!!!!!???!!!!! I cannot believe that! That is just soooooo unacceptable to me.

No one get mad at me this is just my opinion. I just really think you need to express your opinions on April 1st w/ them.

Please forgive my ignorance but I dont see the point in a tasting. Do you have THAT many choices?

For my hall I was able to pick ten chafing dishes for the cocktail hour. Would I ask to try all 30 choices before making my decision? What am I? A food critic? I mean I had tripe and eggplant - two things I H A T E - so would I bring someone else to try those?

For the entrees I only got to pick what kind of steak I wanted - does it matter how its cooked the day of my tasting? It is steak it wil taste differently every time someone cooks it.

So what if you don't like something? Now what? cancel the hall and pick another?

I am not trying to be mean, I just never understood it. And if you have confidence in your hall I wouldn't worry about it!!

I agree... and to be honest, i booked without a tasting back in JUNE of 2006! and just had my tasting. I didnt try all their food. I picked one app one salad and 4 entrees. I am not tasting a desert or a cake.

There is no way a hall can manage to prepare all that food!

TO make you feel better - search the reviews for the hall and see how many girls ate there and loved the food...maybe post on the 07 board....

Dont choose options where you are unsure of what the sauce might be or an ingredient is. But many halls do not let you taste all of the food.

The wedding stress is gettig to us all Why did you book them in the first place. Revisit that. Im sure you took notice of the food when you did.

Just relax and take a deep breath. Your food will be to die for. If it wasnt- the popularity would not get out by word of mouth, and people wouldnt book. THere woulod be plenty of angry LIW brides biotching about the food on here!

Do a search and see what you find. Im sure youll be happy!

Love this post because I am getting married at the same place and have the same problem!

We just booked in December and it was not clear that we dont get the tasting. Before we booked we were told we could have a tasting whenever, and they only needed a few hours to set it up! Then all of sudden, wham, we dont get one now. Well FH called and we are getting our tasting...I guess the same you are getting 1 of each entree. We just booked before the holidays and FH had alot of travel in Jan and Feb so we were a bit irritated about the sitation as well! But I think everything is ok now.

how funny would it be if you went there under an alias and said you were interested in booking but wanted to sample the menu first - that would be hilarious! i seriously would SO do that....or go along for a food tasting with a friend who 'is interested' in booking if i really wanted to taste the food id lie and find a way around it!
