Basically, he's a salesman. So when salesman are trying to make a sale, they go above and beyond...once they have their sale, usually they arent so helpful.
I think I would be upset if I couldnt taste the food. I guess you will just have to rely on other people's opinions that have been there. Or, maybe you could speak to someone other than him, maybe a supervisor or something and let them know how you feel.

That's very ODD. Here are a few suggestions:
Is it a restaurant that you can go for dinner & try some of the food?
Can you search on here for other brides that have gotten married there & ask them what they had & what they thought of the different options?
Or, yes have someone else call that has good negotiating skills and demand some sort of tasting.... I think with the $$ I'm sure you're paying they should accomodate if you are persistant enough (but still not rude to russle and feathers). Good Luck!!

Do you know anyone else that has been to your RH, as a guest at a wedding or maybe as a bride, customer of a restaurant? If you tell us where you are getting married, someone may have been there and could help you out.

how funny would it be if you went there under an alias and said you were interested in booking but wanted to sample the menu first - that would be hilarious! i seriously would SO do that....or go along for a food tasting with a friend who 'is interested' in booking ![]()
if i really wanted to taste the food id lie and find a way around it!

I would be more upset that they weren't clear from the beginning. My hall does not do food tastings, but they told me this upfront and told us we could taste the food at one of the showcases - does your hall have any showcases coming up if so go to that.

Why would you book on the notion you could taste the food?
I guess your lesson is learned.
I wouldn't push too hard. You are paying and will have to pay, their service to you will be based on your behavior to them.

I'm sorry to hear that. We don't get a food tasting either, we were instead given a gift certificate to the restaurant. So not the same, but I have read so many good reviews I'm going to trust that the food is good. It really is unfair how people change once they get you to sign or pay for something. The same thing happened to my mom and I when I bought my dress. The second I signed the paper, and they ran my credit card all of a sudden they didn't have time to answer our questions. I really hate salespeople like that ![]()
Maybe try to call again and plead your case?

Well, I absolutely agree with you...you should for sure be allowed to have some sort of tasting...but to try to make you feel better, I will say this...think of it this way, you would never have cancelled your RH based on the tasting right? Maybe you would have been dissatisfied with something, but I imagine the wedding would go on at your RH as planned, so while I totally think it is not right, try to be optimistic...they have a good reputation and I have been there and it really is great...but why not have your dad call and ruffle feathers? Maybe you will get your way![]()

thats nice that he is willing to offer you some kind of tasting!
our hall offers tastings, but not a sit-down try everything on the menu type of tasting. we are coming in on a day they are having a wedding, and they will bring us the CH food and the entrees that are being prepared that night.
I was a little disappointed that we wouldnt get to try every chicken dish etc in order to decide which to go with, but my hall is one wedding at a time and doesn't have an attached restaurant so it's hard for them to prepare things that arent being served, just so we can taste them.
We already know the food is good, but we're just going to have the tasting because it's fun. Worst case, if we dont like one of the entrees they are serving, we will pick something else.
It sounds like you were offered the same kind of tasting we will be doing, maybe even better because you can choose to taste which entrees you want.

Have a friend pretend to want to book there and ask for a food tasting and then go along...if you feel they duped you, then you should dupe them right back.

i agree, i mean a food tasting is very helpful before you book a place. After you book, i dont think youre going to cancel if you dont like the food, regardless its the food we will have to have at the wedding regardless. Just have confidence it will be fine.

Since we pretty much know what appetizer we want, my sister suggested that we ask him if we can taste 2 chicken, 2 seafood and 2 veal. The beef we are doing Prime Rib (that is decided).

Do they have a Showcase coming up?
I would go then and try out diffrent dishes. Usually they have LOTS of dishes available to try.
