Dell

I know this has been asked before-- but for those of you that own Dells--what system do you have?
Processor, memory, hard drive, DVD/CD speed?

I am building one and am trying to decide on how much of an upgrade I should get !!!

I dont know if this will help because mine is 2+ years old.

I have Inspiron (laptop) 8000, with a pentium 3, 256 RAM, 598 mgz, dont know the CD speed.

I have the dimension 4400 (got it almost 2 years ago) I think it has 1.4 or 6 GHz pentium 4 processor 256 mb ram 40 gb hard drive...came with the CD rom and a free upgrade to the CDR, upgraded video card (dont remember anything about it) 17' flat screen monitor and speakers, with shipping cost less than $1000, and I love it!

I JUST got mine 2 days ago. I have an Inspiron 5100 laptop with Pentium 4 processor, 384MB,266MHz 2DIMM, 30GB hard drive, 8X DVD. I haven't gotten to play with it much yet, so I really can't tell you what it's like yet.

We just bought one for my parents for Christmas. They will be doing some general type stuff at home (i.e., no business related stuff). We got them the 4600 desktop with a few upgrades to the package - mainly, 512 RAM, MS Office (instead of WordPerfect) and a CD burner. It's 40 GB hard drive I believe. It was around $1100 after a $150 rebate.

My DH's pc has: P4, 2.4 MH, Processor, 512 MB ram, 52 X cd rom drive, 48 speed cd burner (we didn't want dvd).

Thanks for the help---
After playing on Dell.com and checking out Best Buy and Compu Usa I have settled on a system

Dell-- P4 2.8, 1GB with DVD/RW & second DVD Drive (so we can play and record from one drive to another)

I am very much into gadgets so tend to go above and beyond
