Demetrios brides--- need your help!

Original post by FuTuRe MrS MaZz

What place carries demetrios and doesnt charge a fortune for alterations? My idea of buying online isnt panning out due to the freakin pleated hem on the gown being a major issue

yup, I'm lookin at my receipt right now $200 capped for alterations and can't make out what it says for bustle. What is the rate for that? I can't read what it says on my receipt for that part

It is usually a lot!! Probably over 100!! I budgeted 500 for alterations alone.

My FSIL ordered her demetrios from Burton's for a lot less than Macy's was charging. I think their alterations are supposed to be reasonable too. If you call them, they will give you the price of the gown over the phone.

Hey - I'm the FSIL :) and my Demetrios gown was almost $400 less from Burton's than from Macy's Herald Square! The alterations were not expensive at Burton's either. I don't remember exactly how much they quoted for each, but it was definitely less than any other Bridal shop. I think the bustle which was the most expensive part was about $75 (Macy's wanted double that!)

I saw the pics of the gown you like (beautiful). They'll probably measure you hollow to hem wherever you get the gown. I think anything with a 'border' is made in custom length - that's what my FSIL found with all the ones she tried on that had detailing on the bottom!

Oh yeah - one more thing...Burton's ordered my gown in MY SIZE - not 3 sizes too big like Macy's wanted to. They wanted to order me a '10' at Macys, even though I measured a size 4 on the Demetrios size chart. I went with the 6 just in case - I'd rather have to take it in than worry about looking like a stuffed sausage on the big day - lol!

GOOD LUCK!!!

i might have been there when you were ! there were a couple BM's wearing sage dresses while i was trying on gowns...LOL.

Gina, if you haven't been told i think Burton's is really reasonable on alterations, like less then $100 for hem and same for bussle....

My neighbor told me that there are a few places in NJ that don't charge for alterations. I've never heard of this but she told me she did this when she got married prob 5 years ago.
