Neither is the current governor of California. Talk about celebrities and politics.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a U.S. citizen.

i know i can't speak for her... but i'm pretty sure that she's referring to the celebrity 'Fad' of kabbalah, and not Kabbalah itself.
I personally don't buy her and Britney's 'faith' in it.

There are two different types of Kabbalah, there is the celbrity 'fad' which is donating money to a scam artist and wearing $50 red string. Then there is the religious aspect which is mystic and spirtual and does not cost a dime. I wear the red string because it wards off the evil eye and keeps me out of harms way, I took it out of a sewing kit and had it blessed...for free. So if she is referring to the celebrity Kabalah she should have stated it and it definitley was not stated. I am offended, if I would have said something bad about Jesus, G-d or Buddha I would have been blasted. But, I have nothing bad to say because everyone has a right to their beliefs. At least in America they do!

No problem. It's easy to do when there is no inflection.

I don't know--I think all the celebrities talking about politics--and Bush bashing--encourages the younger demographic to vote. Rock the Vote on MTV appears to have a democratic slant, but it does get the younger voters out there voting. And if Dave Matthews can help raise $ for the party, who are we to say that is any worse than having a $1000 a head Republican dinner fund raiser? There are a lot of people who speak without knowing the issues; celebrities are just on TV talking about their opinions, whereas the average Joe is home talking to his family and neighbors about issues he knows nothing about. My FH wasn't even registered, and having worked in the White House, I made him register when we first started dating I don't care how he votes, but to not vote is something I cannot accept!

Honestly RELAX. I am not anti-Jew - I have MANY Jewish friends. People are people and I don't care about what religion, race or sex they are. My comments came from a 'its Friday afternoon and I'm bored at work' type place. NOTHING MORE.

I am so not one of those people who starts little arguments on this site. I enjoy it on here chatting with everyone :)

gosh, forget I even posted this post in the first place :(

it was only a dig at celebrities - NOT at ANY group/groups of people practicing ANYTHING.

it is scary how little the average voter knows about the issues and things. We know someone who always spreads those Democrat bashing emails that all turn out to be Urban Legends (Kerry and Jane Fonda at a rally together in the 60's or 70's, etc).... but he's so willing to blindly believe what is sent to him or told to him without doing the research. Very scary!!!

I like Dave Matthews - I'll vote for whoever he tells me too
Just kidding!
But I am a Democrat - and also not a huge fan of Bush.....but it has more to do with his speaking abilities than anything else...

Yep, that's exactly what drives me crazy when people (celebrities and otherwise) talk politics. Sure, they have a right to do it. I just wish some folks would THINK first. Strategically, bashing and name-calling are counterproductive.

On the other hand, I've been thinking about this issue a little more, and I DO think that there's a place for angry discourse (still not 'bashing,' but angry stuff with facts and ideas to back it up) in politics.

I believe Dave Matthews was born in upstate New York and moved to South Africa. Therefore, he is an American.

And now, I leave this thread.

TY..all is well. I just get offensive when people get the wrong impression of what 'real' kabbalah is. I was bored when I signed on and apologize for inferring you were anti-semetic. Is this where we hug and make-up, if so it is my favorite part!!

Dave was born in S. Africa and moved to NY when he was 2, then he moved back to Johannesburg when his father died, then he came back to Charolottesville VA and he became a US citizen in 1980...and now I shall leave this thread as well

I was close. I knew there was a NY connection there. But I was right that he's a citizen.

FH would kill me if he knew I got that wrong.

and enough bush bashing - bottom line, he's our PRESIDENT, let's show SOME RESPECT.

Agreed - but unfortunately too many people have lost that skill. You may not respect the President's actions, but you should respect him as a fellow American and fellow human being, and you should show some respect for the office.

This is a fair distinction, I think. Despite mounting evidence to the contrary, I still believe in basic human dignity -- and, therefore, dignified behavior. So, for example, if I met George Bush one day, I'd be polite and respectful. I also concede that being a president is a difficult job, to say the very least. In my mind, however, I DO NOT respect him, because he has not done much, if anything, that I can support. I also think that Bush's campaign has already shown major disrespect to the Kerry campaign (noteworthy example: the personal slander of trying to allege that Kerry had an affair with an intern, even though there was no evidence whatsoever). And if Kerry fights fire with fire now, that's Bush's campaign's own fault.

i don't respect a president who has no respect for americans, those who have put their lives on the line to serve their country, and the innocent iraqi families that have been destroyed.

i will bush bash til the cows come home

why? because i am angry with what is going on around me. angry that i am being lied to, angry because there is not a damn thing i can do about it...well, except for VOTE!!!

i am an equal opportunity basher, if republicans can go after clinton, democrats should be able to go after bush. i wish they wouldn't stoop to a certain level, but i don't think speaking ill about a person means one has no respect for the office. i have a ton of respect for the office, i wish we had a president who did as well!
