Hey what have you girls put down for the 1st deposit?? my hall is requiring to put 5k down ..it seems more then the halls I went to..also we are most likely signing the contract tomorrow! Is there anything we should look out for or anything to request that should be on the contract???

i guess it all depends on the amount of guests you have, if u cant pay the 5 k at once, tell the to spread out your payment or neg.
Mine was $750.00 but I am having during the day so I would say it is comparable with evening wedding deposits. The more you put down now the less you pay at the end. Either way, your paying for it.

Mine was $1000. Then I think we had like a 'second' deposit due 6 months before the wedding.

We had to put down a large deposit too, but we were absolutley sure about the place and had no doubts.

Chateua La Mer requires 1000. However 3 months from the initial deposit you need to make 1000 payments everyother month for 4 months. So eventually you would have given them a 5000 deposit.

our total deposit was 1500. And we got to spread that over three payments.

Our first deposit was $500, and then the next 2 months we had to make $1,500 deposits, and then 2 months after that we had to make a $2,500 deposit, and then 2 more months after that we had to make a $3,500 deposit. So within 6 months we had to pay $9,500. I actually liked that payment plan because we now have 1/3 of the wedding paid for.

I had to put $500 down. But I am doing a monthly payment plan on $650, I do not know if that made a difference.
If there is anything that you request be done on your day, write it one the contract.
We requested a boat be moved, the cigarette tray have fresh sand..... I know they are pettty, but we wanted to make sure the small things were noted and signed by both.

Thanks girls! I am waiting for my BM to give me a call back to see if we can do 2500 and then oct 2500.. its a fri night wedding .. i think that sounds fair!! yeah those little things bother me as well ie. cigarette trays mats where you walk in etc.. ill make sure thats on the contract!..thanks

Mine was $750.00. they want nothing until the month before the wedding where 75% of the anticipated balance is due. then the day of we pay the rest. we have the option to make payments as we go, but we're still saving, so we havent' done that yet!

techincally our deposit was $1K but we gave $500 to 'hold the date' and then came back like 2-3 weeks later and gave the other $500.
$5K sounds like a lot of money. but i suppose it depends on the kind of hall and the amount of everything total.
